Coalition politics: where people root for the lesser two of three evils...

I think they will self implode once uBaba kicks the bucket. You are very right, but we now have proof that the EFF is going nowhere slowly, the MK looks scary because it just started and jumped to third position but they also have a ceiling.
The bottom line in this election is still the fact that the ANC is failing to get their supporters to go out and vote, they probably think they are punishing it but all they do is to open the door wide for the MK. Their disgruntled voters are still there, they did note vote for the DA, they did not vote for the EFF, they abstained.
My feeling is that the majority of the country is sober enough to see Zuma for what he is, so he is still by and large, MK is stil by and large a KZN party as the results show, so I don't think people will fall for whatever he is selling, but not voting is equivalent to evil triumphing when good men do nothing.
I'd be concerned about that only in so much as how much of the army is Zulu and also possibly MK affiliated due to history.
One thing I trust Zuma with is his ability to control his cult , he can fire all his leadership and put all his family members there and his supporters will find a way to work around that and still vote for him, Malama learnt well from the man.I think they will self implode once uBaba kicks the bucket.
Too many fighting for scraps. Most of their politicians are gratuity loyalists. They already on unstable grounds and looks like uBaba was expecting more- as crazy as that sounds. So expect some infighting.
It definitely should be a concern if you deploy a few thousand heavily armed and trained individuals to quell potential violence into an area only to find a good chunk of them are loyal to the group and person you're trying to quell.
I think a state of emergency would ultimately play into Jacob's hands and prove what he is saying to the masses and backfire badly.
They are also in talks with the DA. People will be talking to everyone else- trying to find the best terms.I've already read on news24 that senior ANC members are in talks with MK and EFF.
Do you honestly think a party like the ANC, corrupt and racist to the core is going to work with the DA? Are you on drugs?
Back in the MK? One of my gripes is that people like her and other undesirable and questionable characters like Tornado Veteran seems to be hanging on for some odd reason.
To be honest, they are very aligned in policies and that makes the most sense, it is Juju's tantrums that I am not sure we can afford at National level.I only see ANC + EFF coalition.
I only see ANC + EFF coalition.
Only for 16%. If he was the MK would have gotten the most votes.Zuma is the most popular candidate in the country.
Think about it a little bit.
(Obviously he'd be too old.)
So let their be trouble. The worst SA president is already trying to incite riots:
Yes. It will be ANC+EFF+ Prob. PA.I don’t think that the EFF has enough votes at the National level to make that coalition workable
Cyril was the only reason the ANC got to 40%.
Juju would do well to recognize opportunity to grow up. He is not a toddler anymore. Earlier he realizes that, the better it would be for him and everyone. To be honest, they are very aligned in policies and that makes the most sense, it is Juju's tantrums that I am not sure we can afford at National level.
I disagree. Students got nothing to loose. As soon as they become middle class they have everything to loose. As much as the DA would like to group the EFF and MK in the conniving, dangerous black people category- who would be in a 'Doomsday coalition'- I personally don't see them able to work together.
MK is more cult of Zuma, Zulu, older comrades. EFF is younger, broader appeal (heck they even run the SRC of some Western Cape Uni's) with the cult of Malema. I think Malema will do better in future elections as his electorate matures.
Lots of varsity students are in the middle of writing exams and weren't bothered to vote, or aren't registered in the right VD. Many of them are EFF voters. Some of those young EFF voters will also become outspoken, qualified young politicians who will strengthen the EFF- so I wouldn't be too worried if was Malema.
It was anti-incumbency & essentially a tribal vote at times.Cyril was the only reason the ANC got to 40%.
a peculiar penguin, that one. Many KZN ANC councillors are going to see how well the MK did in their wards and will defect in the LGE to save their jobs.
This will further strengthen uBaba in the short term. uBaba is back- a masterclass in African politics- give him that. Unhinged, corrupt, probably senile but you have to admire his political capabilities. After all the sh*t he caused in SA- it seems Zuma will go to the grave having the last laugh.
It's not only tribalism- if that was the case than the IFP which is the most tribalistic party in KZN would have faired better. It's the Zuma effect on the population there. Of course, there are shady characters in the background- but they also needed Zuma.
Where is this backbone? In one of his couches?Time for Cyril to show some backbone.
