The SA Politics Thread Part 6

They don't accede to that. I don't see them giving up speaker of parliament for example. At least not to the DA (who most in the ANC and the alliance, plus EFF and MK consider "the enemy" in some commie paranoid speak).

I don't see it happening either, but it might be the only workable solution that doesn't involve some sort of compromised coalition, that doesn't last more than 2 months.

Msholozi has said he will never speak to him as he doesn't consider him a leader. The only way Msholozi will talk to the ANC is if they crawl on their knees to him with CR's head on a silver platter.

Hopefully Paul was listening. It's time for CR to put the GLM ahead of his personal interest

I think the GNU label is probably misleading as it won't ever include all parties, but just those willing to work with the ANC within whatever framework they try and push.
Perhaps GNU 2 is still on? EFF doesn't seem happy with GNU, and ANC does not love MK...

Somebodies perking up again

Fear not, when he gets the call that Panyaza is out he will be all like this

At the moment, my thoughts on Cyrils 4.5h late little press conference was purely an exercise in "placating" the public at large that something is being done. In reality they have fsck all idea and he is too fscking shyte scared to put his cock on the proverbial block and make a decision.

I will be unpopular for this but I think DA should participate in the GNU (unless MK is there, EFF is also undesirable but negotiations can happen).

Demand DP position, police and transport ministries. If DA can go full blast in those ministries and properly deliver, it'll break the stigma once and for all about "IF DA COME TO POWER, APARTHEID COMES BACK". Country also gets to improve in those aspects.

IFP will most likely get speaker. ANC holds finance ministry with Godongwana.

I would tend towards this being the only "workable" solution at the moment with the way Cyril is trying to kick the can down the road, then at least the DA can hold the executive to some level of account. It will be hugely dangerous for the ANC politically though, as it will constantly expose them.
Thinking about it now, it seems more like an open invitation for anyone to join. When those like the EFF won't join, they can claim at least they tried. Then those who are vocal against a DA coalition don't have a leg to stand on. So it'll come down to whichever party has the better negotiation skills, which is why we haven't heard anything from the DA yet...

It 100% is an "open invitation" as it were, but it also serves as a vehicle for Cyril and the NEC not to actually make a decision and dither some more.

Probably yeah. Expecting EFF and MK to throw tantrums and DA/IFP to come to the table (give or take a few more smaller parties).
