That's true but this is also true. It's from the DAs own website.

A merger that failed, leading to the NNP going at it alone.
 
Congratulations to uncle Cyril and those elected to lead the NA. Hopefully this fairytale union doesn't turn into a nightmare we saw in Jozi and Tshwane metros.

Hell, my garden engineer would do a better job. So that's no measure. :ROFL:

But Ian is too raw and new. Make no mistake, I have a lot of time and respect for him. He'd be a good fit for some junior position in the ranks to grow him into the position for a minister of police in a few years.

ANC is not giving up anything security related to anyone, including home affairs. DA will get economic and infrastructure positions.

This is fine for now. With the 60% requirement they will each get a say in the policies of each other...

On Ian, a little bit of community activism is not enough to run something as complex as the police ministry. He won't get it though I doubt the DA would select him if they were offered the post.

He's in parliament to learn the ropes of politics imo. He's nowhere close to being a minister, especially if the DA is going to put their reputation on the line. Maybe in the next term, or the one after that...

Also he actually studied Police Science.

He sure as hell get's my vote.

I his own words on Cele.

“He has done a lot of damage, but so have his predecessors. For almost two decades, we did not have career cops as our national commissioners. This is a broad issue, and we can’t expect policing to improve without fixing it from the top.

“We have to start with getting a competent police minister, restructure police management, and determine who has been appointed because of merit and not because of political affiliation.”
