I have said this before and I will say it again, National politics is a completely different kettle of fish compared to local government politics
And I will keep saying that anything is possible, LGE from last year is proof of that.
They will most likely form an alliance with the EFF or a combination of smaller parties. I see them forming an alliance with the IFP before they form one with ActionSA.
Perhaps. But I maintain that it'll depend on who wins at The King of ANC Tournament at the end of the year (the conference).

I have said this before and I will say it again, National politics is a completely different kettle of fish compared to local government politics, the ANC has very little in common with the DA, whether it's led by Ramaphosa or someone else, the policies remain the same.

They will most likely form an alliance with the EFF or a combination of smaller parties. I see them forming an alliance with the IFP before they form one with ActionSA.

Yeah pretty much this...

At the national level there is zero chance that the ANC will form a coalition with the DA, and the DA would be wise not to even go down that road either.

The ANC will turn towards the EFF and other smaller parties before it would ever consider the DA.

The best possible outcome of course is that the ANC fall far enough down that a coalition with the EFF still doesn't get them above the 50% mark but I just don't see that happening, and we can just hope that together they don't reach the 66% mark.

Yes, anything is possible, people can be so fed up with the ANC that they decide to either stay away or vote for the DA, enabling the DA to win with outright majority, likely? No, but it is possible.

If you looked at the trends of the past elections you will see why it is not a good idea to base anything on the local election, turnout has always been low for those and people don't take them too seriously, 2021 was the lowest turnout in a history of low turnouts for local elections.

Opposition parties always thrive in lowy attended elections, it is much simpler for parties to work together at that level than it is for national elections, e.g would the DA, EFF, IFP VF+ easily find common ground on BEE/AA? land, borders, traditional leadership and foreigners? Because those are subjects they will have to agree on at National level, their common hatred for the ANC will simply not be enough.

What rubbish. They are our democratically elected government. They do speak for the vast majority of Saffers

ActionSA can sod off

Actually no they don't.

The ANC at best speaks for around 38% of Saffers based off the 2019 NGE, or 25.52% based off the 2021 LGE

Semantics is important...

The ANC speaks for the majority of the people who voted in the last election. Nothing more/nothing less.
They do not speak for the majority of Saffers.

And since we don't know who the people who didn't vote for would have voted for we can't assume that they wouldn't all have voted for the anc. Ergo we are a democracy and the government speaks for us all.

They didn't vote for the anc so we know they don't support the anc...

We live in a democracy but it is disingenuous to say the government speaks for the majority when it very patently doesn't by the numbers.

Tbh it would've been fairer IMO if the whole Russia/Ukraine thing went to Parliament, they had a debate or two on what we should do and who we support. Instead of DIRCO making a statement supporting Ukraine and then having Ramaphosa and the ANC overrule it a few days later.

Wokies who have pronouns in their Twitter bio aren't voting for the DA.
In case you were wondering why they have been the 20% party for so long, a party that only cares about those who already vote for it is doomed for stagnation and ultimately failure.

A party that harbours ambitions of governing the country cares about all the potential voters it could amass, not just those who are already voting for it.

Agreed, it's whataboutism basically.

Speaker of Parliament Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is expected to set a date for President Cyril Ramaphosa’s motion of no confidence vote next week, setting the stage for another attempt to have the president booted out of office.

MPs met virtually on Thursday, 3 March 2022, to discuss a range of matters and two motions were brought up – the motion of no confidence vote against Ramaphosa and one against his Cabinet, which was tabled by DA leader John Steenhuisen during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) debate.
It kinda makes more sense now that the DA went after the cabinet of Rama instead of the man himself since there was a motion of no confidence against him already.

Seems like 2022 ain't a fun year for SA gov/ANC...
