It was odd.

She also is not on good terms for the ANC in Ethekwini especially which is Zuma's stronghold. She won't be trusted by them after going against Zuma. She is clearly not in a healthy state.
Maybe she was embedded ANC agent in ASA?

But yeah, a weird choice

Not really politics and behind a paywall but seems money troubles incoming for taxpayers; and a few other income generating sectors of the economy.

I have a question about NHI. What the **** is it exactly?

Do they plan to nationalize all the private hospitals or medical aids? What the hell is it even?

Nationalised medical aid. Instead of getting medical aid from a private company like Discovery, you have to get it from government. Then maybe you can use a private company for a topup policy or additional cover at extra expense.

Will they combine GEMS and private aids into one massive **** up?

I could be wrong but this sounds like a bad idea since gov can't even get the basics right. The public healthcare system (the gov system) is close to collapse, so yeah, wouldn't trust them with medical aid either.

GEMS will probably cease to exist, other medical aids will depend on what they are allowed to offer (i.e. will they be allowed to offer full medical aid with a set of private hospitals run in parallel to the state's facilities? - this will cause many to be upset because then the ultra-rich who can pay twice for medical aid will still be able to get decent treatment).

It is a horrible idea. For it to even get off the ground, government would have to take over the cash reserves of existing medical aids (basically theft). And then expect it to run with about the efficiency of government's other insurance arms - RAF and UIF. Hospitals will run into big liquidity problems waiting for payouts.

Most likely when they come for the medical aids, taking the private hospitals won't be far off...

Not so much a case of taking private hospitals, but private hospitals would have to treat everyone who walks in, and then claim payment back from government. In theory, if the cash flows from government, this is fine, but for numerous practical reasons, the cash will not flow as needed.

The question then becomes whether private corporation X can set up a private facility and only accept and treat people who subscribe to it for R3k a month or whatever (i.e. a private hospital that doesn't have to treat every citizen or rely on government for cashflow).

Found it:
No one expects that cabinet or CR get removed. The ATM had hoped to sow some deep divisions by allowing the RET to vote him in secret. The DA and the others are using this to show how cabinet are useless and the ANC will obviously defend and deflect. Not sure it'll even end in a proper vote.

Curious that the ones appearing remotely all seem to have horrible connection issues. The leeches have data paid for by the public but still can't manage a competent connection.

Would be nice tho if Cabinet can get thrown out. The CR motion would never have passed anyway.

ATM is RET proxy party, everyone knows it.

This is actually a great chance for the DA, with the cabinet motion being roll-call, they can make a PR name-and-shame campaign of those who protected the cabinet.
