Sure, but it puts more dents in his reputation. Not that Phala Phala helped him tho...

I'm super curious to see what happens with the court case.
He loses nothing. The DA are politicking and he's right not to play to their tune. They are very well aware of how commissions work.

Something I have had to get used to is the few vs many argument, while a whole community of 100 may have an issue with a school, only 5 would physical go burn it down - the overall message was that 100 people burnt the school down.

A bigger part of the problem is that the community has no logical or helpful way of actually addressing the issue if the school was a problem, which comes back to feeding a man a fish and teaching a man to fish analogy - the community asks the government for something and they don't get it. We don't see the 30 times the community asks, only the news story of the building burning down on the 31st request.

And this isn't to justify burning the thing down either, there is no actual way to "get back" at those demanding you use the institution/facility, while making it inaccessible at the same time. Something that stuck with me throughout the years was a violent protest happening in my town where people were throwing litter everywhere - my father went to the residents and asked them why they were destroying their homes, and not the people who didn't deliver on their promises?

The following week there was a massive protest outside the counselors house with trash being dumped outside on his yard - I think for a month after that it became a temporary refuse dump until the services were restored. The point is, there needs to be constructive protests, with a message and an incentive to fix the problem. Burning stuff gets nothing done.

True. A student must eat well and get a good night's rest on a good bed to be ready for their study day and exams. Glad to see you agree.

Whaddya mean? the student can sleep on a gym mattress on the floor and store what needs to be cool in the shade.

We're talking the UNISA VC's bed and fridge. here. R600k for a bed and a huge SMEG fridge at least. The ANC doesn't come cheap like the promises it makes to students.

Suspend-ception. I don't think they'll be in Parliament after 2024.

Today I learned there's someone else in COPE besides Lekota.
