Care to comment why stuff doesn't get stolen or wrecked?

In places like ZIm, its because the government steals it before the population can :p

But it also might have something to do with the fact that police are somewhat more brutal than ours... they feel feathers for beating the shyte out of people or locking them up unjustly.

TBH, I wouldn't call him incompetent, I'd call him a politician and he seems to have seen a change in the wind that will benefit him... it has sweet fek all to do with the population.
Probably got offered the ASA KZN leader job and took the chance, seeing that Mashaba has "engaged him in the past":

Now acting as if they'll only talk now and this hasn't already been done.

Looking forward to the surprise reveal...

100% this in my opinion, he was offered a better job and will take it...

And in all honesty, nothing really wrong with that.. it just gets sour when the unnecessary mudslinging starts. Just be a man and openly say ASA offered him a better role and since the parties outlooks are very similar, he is taking it.

But the deputy speaker is cool and will remain in her position? The double standards is sure going to give Mnqasela and the DA detractors a lot of ammunition.
I missed something. Double standards? This seems valid reason to me?
Speaker Masizole Mnqasela, embroiled in conflict with his deputy, Barbara Schäfer, is accused of wrongly claiming allowances

They laugh at us with all their countrymen here in South Africa? No one picked up on the irony at any point when they were giggling away?

Proof that Africans will always Africa.
I am waiting for real life stories now. I will start. Something like 'I was in Africa and met this Jabari guy and he told me how they missed all the good things because they were not ruled by the apartheid people of SA'

Nah, Jabari ran way to SA and is now living on government grants in Camps Bay with his 17 children and 4 wives.

She used to be an MEC and her salary then qualified her for a much more expensive vehicle, yes contrary to the DA and their supporters shouting at ANC ministers buying expensive cars it seems they are also not too averse to a little pampering at taxpayers expense.

When she was downgraded to a deputy speaker she was supposed to hand back the BMW beast she was driving back to be allocated to another MEC but she simply refused and continued driving the car, because her downgraded salary as deputy speaker meant she could no longer afford an X5.

As if that wasn't enough the DA appointed her to the committee that was investigating the speaker Mnqasela's indiscretions, while facing her own probe in the allegations of the misuse of car. It had to take the ANC protesting her inclusion in the committee before she withdrew.

To me it looks like they were supposed to get rid of both the speaker and the deputy, no idea how the deputy is left alone, maybe she's the founding member of the party and is held to different standards compared to the experiments.

Inshallah, Jabari wants to spread joy. He is a good man. Can't blame him to migrate to European city of Africa.

Premier Alan Winde, who is also the DA caucus leader in the legislature, said he had asked Mnqasela to step down as Speaker while the investigation continues.

The Speaker does not serve in my cabinet. In actual fact, I and my cabinet need to answer to Parliament, of which the Speaker is then in charge.

Maybe things work different at provincial legislature but it looks like there is a potential of a conflict of interest that Winde continues to hold the caucus leader position while also the leader of the executive which is cabinet.

Winde as the leader of the DA caucus can instruct the DA caucus on how to vote against Mnqasela, the same petson who is supposed to hold Winde the Premier accountable?

It's probably not illegal since it's allowed to happen but it looks very improper.

In theory, all speakers are independent, but in reality they aren't. And how the party votes is per party instruction so whether or not Winde is caucus leader doesn't make a lick of difference. They would still vote to his and the party's wishes. The MONC is just due process.

The former president told his supporters that now that he was a free man, he would divulge ANC secrets that he had long threatened to share.

If any of that involves knowledge of criminal acts, he can be charged.

My suspicion is this. Just like in Matzikama, the PA councillor from the ward mentioned above walked over to DA. Meaning there's a by-election that'll be triggered. (Checked the ward above along with the addresses mentioned in the post by Phalatse, the addresses are located in the same ward as above).

Perfect opportunity for DA. And PA has been struck with more acute symptoms of NNP syndrome.

If I'm proven wrong then it's fine, but I think this is very likely.
