What do you think of the new portfolios? I think they're good ideas?

Winde also named three new portfolios: Infrastructure, Mobility, and Police Oversight and Community Safety.
If I remember correctly, I saw the ad to announce the new ministries in one of the local newspapers once.
The first will focus on WC's infrastructure. The second will focus on WC's public transport systems. And the last is like the name says.

Also, seems like Maynier is Education MEC now? Cool, good luck to him

It looks to me like he has just renamed existing portfolios, they made it sound lik d it's new portfolios. I particularly like the Mobility name, it makes more sense than the utilitarian sounding Transport.

As I've said before, the basic concept of NHI is a good idea (state-covered health insurance for those who can't afford private medical aids) but the way ANC wants to implement it, I don't agree with it.

Woo hoo! Renaming things always works great!
The renaming here has been done tastefully, wait until the Great Liberation Movement catches on, we are going to have the Basic Education Department of Pixley ka Isaka Seme, and you lot will pronounce it whether you like it or not.

Can shorten it to the Pixie Department. Results will be as imaginary as pixies

And if you call @UrBaN963 a pixie I am going to report you!

That's a setback for Phalatse and the DA, I wonder if it's technicalities or were they found wanting on the merits of the case. It looked like they had a good case at first impressions.
Yup.

We are pleased that a competent court of law has once again ruled against DA’s led government racist and narcissistic conduct. said Thobani Nkosi, Regional Secretary of Samwu Johannesburg.
Gotta love the "RaCiSM" card played here...

That will go down in history as one of the shortest victory ever. Maybe Samwu did not even bother reading the judgement before commenting.

Johannesburg – Democratic Alliance Gauteng spokesperson for Social Development, Bronwynn Engelbrecht, believes there's something fishy going on at the Mohlakeng Old Age Home on the West Rand, where employees are paid salaries but the home is empty and not functional.

Speaking to IOL, Engelbrecht confirmed there was no one at the home. She said it has been empty for some time, but salaries are paid out.

Engelbrecht said she was concerned about occupancy of the building, which has been standing empty for over six years, with no one doing anything about it.
