But broerskap is still a colloquial term that's broadly used, no?

Maybe not so much where you are coming from but it's a term I grew up with, maybe it's inclined more towards the informal/tsotsi taal Afrikaans.

I don't think so, no? I think people refer more to either the English terms or "broederskap".

I don't know. I speak standard WC Afrikaans (which is really informal), yet I never heard that word in my life.

Exactly what it sounded like to me, I thought it was a door or an entrance you add when you are not on speaking terms with the family to avoid confrontations, then I imagined what a house would look like if everyone had a separate entrance. :ROFL:

Over here, I have heard people saying what sounded like 'broer' but never 'broeder'

@TheChamp Seems like I was right, lol.
 
The PA has informally told the DA it will withdraw from its coalitions in the province over the alleged “insults”. The PA’s deputy president, Kenny Kunene, confirmed this to Daily Maverick on Thursday.

“We are not going to allow anyone to insult us any more,” said Kunene during a telephone call.

I like Gayton but Kunene is a non starter who was supposed to remain somewhere in the background.
