The highlights are very encouraging, I wonder how are billing issues like in Ekurhuleni, because the 2% rebate would be useless if they slap you with ridiculous made up bills.

If people do their work (and do meter readings) and workers don't guess the amount then that insane bills would be minimal.

edit: They do allow readings online (that is how I do mine). Why not allow people to sms, email etc those readings in ? Make it even easier ... less work for workers and accurate readings.

Nice. 2% rebate for keeping your account up to date.

It pisses me off when ANC controlled, and they gave 50% off when you pay your arrear account. WTF. What about the people that keep the account up to date? Why we get f0ck all ?

SA needs more ideas like that.
You still keep your prestige and honour of being a good citizen and a bigger man who doesn't need to be coerced and coached on doing the right thing.

Yes, that would need to happen for the 2% rebate to be a reality, otherwise people will never be up to date because no one has money to pay for a made up bill.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that things are going so well in Ekhuruleni for the "united front" coalition there. Since they only have 98 seats and have to rely on the EFF to pass stuff. And seeing that budgets are being passed and things are getting done it seems EFF is actually playing ball with the "united front". And that's great!

Seems like all the Gauteng "united front" governments are holding and getting **** done. This bodes really well for the run-up to 2024.

For once, **** looks like it's getting done. Maybe in 5yrs time, the province will be in a bette state than it is now.

Hopefully, you guys (and the other provinces too maybe) will get to throw the ANC out of your provincial gov in 2024.

Since if the "united front" govs get **** done, it should bolster support for the involved parties, and give them a chance to throw out the ANC in GP in 2024?

Still plenty to to be done in Ekurhuleni after years of ANC neglect but its slowly getting there. The cost of vehicle maintenance is been scrutinised for overcharging, municipal waste dumps are been upgraded etc One of the first actions they reversed was the previous ANC's plan to put the work carried out by the SPCA to tender.

I will legit get drunk for the first time in many years, if that were to happen.

The bar is so bloody low at the moment; that any improvement is good at the moment. Lots of low-hanging fruit for the united coalition governments to tackle.

Deputy President David Mabuza says that South Africa has reached a point of no return when it comes to the issue of land reform.
“Our liberation cannot be realised until the land that is below it, above it and what waters is under the control and command of what we call the majority.

"As we have said, South Africa belongs to all who live in this and the land should also belong to all who live in it.”

Moeletsi Mbeki said Cyril Ramaphosa is "not a leader and never was a leader".

He said Ramaphosa has one of the best public relations machines he could think of, “even better than Bell Pottinger”, but failed as South Africa’s president.

“The man has totally failed as a president, he can’t decide on anything, but many people believe he can save South Africa.”

“Cyril is not a leader really. He was never a leader. He is an apparatchik or an agent of the party but he presents himself as a leader. He’s not a leader – if you put him next to Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki and even Jacob Zuma.”

Mbeki said Ramaphosa fails as a leader because he does not believe in anything.

“He goes with the flow. He wakes up in the morning and says ‘which way is the wind blowing’ and ‘I’m gonna go that way’.”
That image, of being a vacillating person or one who prefers capitulation to confrontation, was heightened by his ignominious exit from a May Day rally in the North West, where he was booed and heckled by union members.
