The coalitions hold for now. Williams will be investigated for the next two months by an independent entity. The "unsolicited bid" is now a competitive bidding process.

ANC's motion will be shot down, and the coalition including ASA will vote against such motions for the time being.

If Williams is found guilty of interference and the things ASA accuse him of, fine, good riddance to him and should be punted into the sun. If found innocent, some apologies are in order.

Imagine Herms pitched to the coalition meetings and this was worked out a year ago. Could have all been resolved without the public ruckus. My understanding is the ASA MMC's have known about this along with the mayor the entire time.

We'll have to see what else the independent investigation brings to light, but as I said:

I agree. I'd be amazed if it came out that he has some corrupt relationship here, especially as the DA has publicly supported him - one would expect that they would be able to smell a rat and cut their losses early. But maybe I'm wrong. All-in-all a good outcome

The first time since the election where I am actually impressed by ActionSA, they probably realised that letting the DA walk all over them is not going to do them favour with the electorate.

The EFF is not going to just let the fact that DA refused to support their motion to remove Cyril slide, I foresee a lot of hardships in the coalitions.

The funny thing is the DA didn't even completely reject the notion of a MONC. All they said was "Hey, let the panel finish and then we can MONC afterwards".

Another funny thing is how serious Malema is one moment to unseat ANC and then the next he wants to coalesce with them.

They don't call me flip-flopper, for nothing. - EFF CiC

Not like the EFF is driven by facts and principles, that's why I previously said it would be extremely stupid if the DA did support the motion.

If you are about principle, there is nothing wrong about waiting for an investigation to conclude and basing your decision on that, the EFF are seemingly not interested in that for Cyril and they are not interested in that for the Tshwane mayor.

I mean it makes more sense to wait for the investigation to finish, and then use a MONC. Instead of the other way round...

But then again, we're talking about CiC here.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy that befell us was to allow politicians to get away with their emotional blackmail when someone dares to say something about illegal immigrants, I am very glad to see people like the MEC and Minister Motsoaledi speaking out without fear, our country is a mess today because we have too many cowards in positions of authority.

The DA must take their being responsible and shove it, the time for skillfully dancing around such issues has long passed.

Even Mashaba can't completely support the MEC.
What you need to understand about politicians is that they are not about principle but will always see an angle to score political points on everything. The point here has nothing to do with being sympathetic to a vulnerable person, most illegal immigrants are very vulnerable in a number of ways, Mashaba has never cared about that when he mentioned just how much of a burden they are on us, the only difference now is that an ANC person has said it therefore he must naturally be opposed.

The fact that the ANC has caused the mess does not mean illegal immigrants are absolved, just because I left a door to my house open doesn't mean the criminal who comes in and steal my stuff is free of any guilt.

I wouldn't have chosen to address my issues with a sick person if I were in the MECs position, I think that's insensitive but that all there is to it, everything she mentioned is spot on.
