The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

This solved it: Turn off settings>system>wi-fi>enable wifi power saving mode

you can also get rid of the live! shortcut if it bothers you...somewhere in the earlier days of this thread some1 said how to - basically just do a registry edit and change it to whatever you want to

Guys, I need help solving a problem that I have. My storage card keeps filling up for no reason. What happens is, I would load my software, copy some media to the storage card, I don't make any registry changes, and then a few days later, my storage card shows as full. And this is not just using the standard memory viewer on the phone, this is using my pc, and third party file browsers. I tried searching for large files using my PC, Respo File Browser and the internal search function without success.

I haven't done any mods. The only software I have installed is:

S2U2
G-Alarm
Garmin Mobile XT
Resco Explorer
SK Tools
SPB Keyboard
SPB Mobile Shell
SPB Wireless Monitor
SmartReg
YouTube Player

Has anyone else experienced this and how did you resolve the problem?

Kamos, I was wondering how you were able to have so much storage memory. Even to start with you have more than my phone, yours being 92.73 and I start with 88.66 in use for mine is 79.04 so that leave me with less than 10 megs. What type of programs do you have installed? I tired to install them on the 16gb internal memory and then even on the 2gb sd card but still no luck, please any help?

hi guys
im posting this from my new Omnia. just got the phone and so far its AMAZING!
One question i have is why does it tell me that im out of memory after i sent about7 songs to the phone via bluetooth?
is there some setting i haveto fix so that it sendz music files to the 8Gb onboard memory?

Battery is flat now so my baby is charging...the lady at MTN said i must charge it for 16 hours ,is this the best time to charge it first time round?

Also where can I go to get some themes/Skinz/Templates for the phone.
I read through the thread but im kinda confused with all this ROM stuff as Ive never had a smartphone before.

Man im loving this phone!:)

This is because it is being stored to your "My Documents" folder which is saved in system memory. The assigned system memory can be viewed in System Settings -> My Memory. I suggest you copy the files over using the USB connection to avoid this.

anyone by *ANY* random chance have any ideas on how to fix a scratched screen?
dropped my omnia today and now i have a few scuffs/hair scratches on the screen =(

There is a way actually. Depends on how deep the scratches are. There's a liquid sponge thing that is used to fix scratches on Spectacles, I used it once to clean my previous phones screen and it worked. It won't take away the scratches completely, it will however make it a lot less visible. These sponge things are available at Optometrists.

I just nook the silly plastic of the screen...phone looks even sexier now:)

Anybody figure out a way to bluetooth files to the 8GB internal memory yet? That's my major issue with the Omnia, well that and the stupid stylus which I've now removed:)

Also any of you know where I can get a cover for the phone (locally)?

Ironically considering we're both with MTN, I found one (silicon BodyGlove) in the second Vodacom shop I tried after none of the MTN dealerships had.

What's even more ironic is that I haven't even got my Omnia yet:o (only next month) but bought the pouch as soon as I laid eyes on one. Judging by this thread, they are very hard to come by

hmmm...thanks. I will go hunting for one tomorrow at the mall.
Want to get one asap...don't want any scratches on my screen:)

You're gonna love the Omnia!

Also I forgot to add that the battery life is AMAZING! Seriously it lasts at least 3 days, 2 if I use the touch player. I love the calender as well, it's like my new best friend:)

dude... i get a day's use out of my omnia.
no video, no music, no internet, no wifi, no phone calls.
power saving mode enabled, wifi off, nothing running in the background...
just smsing (roughly 30-40 a day)

i think i might need a new battery...

This phone worth upgrading to? I'm to lazy to read the entire thread?

Pro's and Cons?

Mine lasts 2-3 days on average, I was thinking of getting another battery and a desktop charger, so that I can just swap-out batteries as required. Or, maybe just another travel charger, then I can charge it at home, work, or in my car, as necessary.

If a larger capacity battery was available for the Omnia, I would definitely be interested.

I was also concerned about the battery life after reading that thread but my battery life seems good.if i didnt listen to music so much im sure it would last 4days.

My pro's(Im not a technology geek)
1. Calendar -Ive never been more organised.
2. HSDPA - Its fast:)
3. Outlook - get all my email acounts mail sent to my phone
4. Radio
5. RSS reader
6. Mouse pointer
7. Garmin Navigation- super cool to show your friends! or alternatively if you need directions:)
8. MASSIVE 16GB storage!
9. Great battery life
10. TV out

Theres probably more but ive only had mine for a week now so im still descovering things.

Cons
1. It doesnt save bluetoothd files to the two 8GB memory locations. So you have to transfer them yourself
2. Stylus. I hate it, took mine off.
3. Typing and browsing takes some getting used to.
4. No cool games

Think thats about it.

Comes with a car charger so no biggie for me. If it can also be charged via USB like my previous SAMSUNG that's a bonus

I have bookmarked this thread and subscribed to it, pending me actually getting the phone.

*Sigh* only 35 more sleeps ...
