has anyone found a way to get mxit to work on the omnia?

does anyone know if there's an app similar to sony-ericsson's trackID?

also... any cool apps or anything you guys can recommend? i only have the spb mobile shell installed...

Hi there,

i copied an avi onto the phone but when I open the file in windows media player it tells me that the file is not support. It gives me the sound but no picture. Could it be a codecs problem and if so where do I get the codecs.

Please help

Try CorePlayer, it's the VLC of mobile. If you can't find it, PM me.
 
How do I connect via Wi-Fi and not 3G?

Hi guys. Anyone know how I can select for my opera browser (or any internet connection from my phone) to use my home's wi-fi connection rather than the phone's built-in 3g connection? I can connect to the wi-fi but when I open my browser, it still opens the 3G /GPRS connection. Pls help. Tnx
 
open your wireless connections and then disable your phone so that only your wifi is enabled...
 
Mmmm this phone looks tempting, to say the least. How would you say it compared to the HTC Diamond?

Tnx. But this would mean that I can't receive calls whilst browsing, right? Is there any other way?

<edit>Bleh - I can get into the admin menu, but when I hit execute on WCDMA, it doesn't do anything :( Teaches me to test before I post! </edit>

Yes, I got it working, browse to www.mxit.com/wap on your phone.

I am trying to find out how to update my garmin maps on the omnia....some of it is accurate, but other parts are very outdated...bram fischer drive in randburg is still called hendrik verwoed??? etc etc...

Also, has anyone managed to find a download for the new firmware for it???
garmin mailed me and said the updates for maps are samsungs problem??

this does not look good

My maps are from March 2008, which according to Garmap is the latest revision, yours should be the same?.

No info on the firmware, would also be interested if someone could help.

it says it is, but i honestly dont believe it...i compared it with some "older" mapping, and it seems to be lacking on certain areas (urban)...

the firmware i am now starting to annoy vodacom/samsung/anyone who listens.. I am not sure of the repercussions of putting on overseas firmware? since i can get hold of that?

Gonna wait for some response today, otherwise will go to vodaworld...

the main reason is battery life, its getting really annoying that everytime i go to bed i have to charge my phone, it goes from full to dead overnight...

Seems to be working ok now. If, I connect to wifi first, it uses wifi connection and doesn't open 3G. If wifi is off, it connects to 3G.

Start -> settings -> connections -> browser connection -> choose automatically detect.

Start -> settings -> connections -> connections -> advanced tab -> select networks -> make both "My Work Network". Edit top one -> proxy settings -> choose "This network connects to the internet"

Guys can you tell me is it possible to say install the same rom as the diamond has?

I'm leaning toward the Samsung but am hesitant because the UI looks pretty ugly.
