The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Its a typical reply from manufacturers... They have finished production of the i900, not even making them anymore I guess as they are now pushing the "newer" generation phones".

I cant believe that it will not run WM6.5. I have had mine running it for 6 months now without a glitch. It just pays to be careful which Cooked ROMS you run. How can the Hardware change that much.... Its purely a different processor...

They just do not want to spend anymore having to maintain i900's with WM6.5.

Its like a motor car.... You buy a great new model this year and 8 months later its superceded with a facelift.... and they have you by the short and curlies....

Yeah they are talking BS, they want us to upgrade. The same goes for the HTC diamond and touch pro afaik.

Caxixi (pronounced ca-shi-shi) is an application written for Samsung Windows Mobile phones such as the Omnia. It plays the sounds of a variety of percussion instruments. The sounds are triggered by shaking the phone using a variety of gestures. But Caxixi is more than just a solo instrument. It also includes a studio, which you can use to arrange backing tracks, record your playing, and mix them together into your own songs. The studio enables you to save recordings and send them to others, and even export them as WAV files to use for ringtones.

So all the new Samsung WM phones will get WM6.5 free upgrade, but I don't see Omnia on the list...

Free WM6.5 upgrade will be for: Omnia II i8000，Omnia Lite B7300，Omnia Pro B7610，and Omnia Pro B7320

Hey guys, wondering if you all could help.

I did a hard reset a while back out of frustration and never backed my stuff up.

Everything is back to normal besides my GPS.

I've not found the yellow voucher to activate my gps on the phone :(

Any leads on how to retrieve a voucher number?

I googled earlier in the week and found the following link.

Just not sure how safe it is to be giving out my phone's Unit ID and if it will actually work...

I also had a similar issue, GPS wouldn't activate after I updated the maps. All I did was phone Garmap, and they told me exactly what to do. I would suggest you do this, especially if you are uncertain about giving info out.

In other news, I have installed an app called Call Firewall on my Omnia today. So far it seems to work quite nicely for blocking numbers, and SMSes, a feature which is not standard on the Omnia. You can also find info about Call Firewall here.

Sometimes it's their system that's faulty and can't send you the activation via the air. What I did is I had back up the Garmin activation file somewhere on my computer too, I think this file is SD card specific.

Also running this as of Saturday. Battery life seems improved, and the UI is fantastic. Also, there are some tweaks to the responsiveness of the touch screen, which make the phone MUCH easier to handle. I've found my typing speed has increased significantly due to this change.

There are one or two little niggles, like some of my menu buttons have disappeared, and switching between tasks is a little trickier.

On the whole, however, it's brilliant.

Shout if you need any help with it.

I also read something about internet connectivity problems on this rom?

Garmin is running fine. I had some issues with internet connectivity - specifically that apps (Opera, PocketTwit) wouldn't seem to establish a connection. I fixed this by going to Browser Connection (under connections) and then ticked automatically detect settings.

Also, I've seen people saying that you can fix connection issues by selecting a different operator, waiting 30 seconds and then going back to your normal operator.
