The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

When u receive or make calls, there is an option to put speakerphone on. Top left icon is "Speaker On" is for speakerphone. This option will only disappear if u choose "Keypad", in which case u can still toggle speakerphone from the 'Menu'.

Thanks!

LOL, this is hysterical. I decided to use my Omnia as a modem.

In Ubuntu, activated the Internet Sharing, OS connected, and I could browse etc.

Tested in XP, WITH the modem drivers already installed because of a previous ROM Update. What a mission that was, eventually connected after numerous attempts, then would disconnect after a few minutes.

This on a Windows Mobile device! :D

My brother had the same problem on his XP machine but eventually got it working. On the other hand I have had no problems like that and I got Vista Business edition installed on my laptop.

It sounds like you did a ROM update that went wrong?.

A few years ago I had a Siemens sent to their "Advanced Repair Centre", and they did phone me back once it was repaired. This was through the VodaCare outlet at Vodaworld, not sure how it works with the various branches.

Ok, good to know, unfortunately I will not be installing Vista on any hardware I have control over. I just stuck the same sim in an E220, and it works fine.

It might be network related. I don't use my phone as a modem so...

Superb Service

Hi all

Thought I would share my "Under Warranty" experience on my i900
On Wednesday 19th, my i900 just bricked. Dead as a doornail.
So I called Vodacom and found out that TTS at 138 Cape Road are the Samsung Service Agents in PE.
I dropped it off, expecting a 6week at least wait.
Well I got it back in exactly 7 days, with a new motherboard, screen and touch pad.

Works even better than before..

I must commend TTS for the excellent service. they do Samsung Proud.

well you are luck i sent mine in to a vodashop on the 16th and i am still getting it back from them on the phone now to see if i get my phone back from them ....

Nope, I'm wondering whether we will get an official WM6.5 release...

Answer seems to be no:

The new suite of Samsung Omnia phones will support Windows Mobile 6.5 . What's more, the Samsung Omnia Lite B7300 will ship with this version while the Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 and OmniaPRO B7320 will ship with WM 6.1 which will be upgradeable to WM 6.5 (free).

Some of you have asked if the currently available Samsung Omnia (i900) will be upgradeable to WM 6.5. This will unfortunately not happen as the i900 hardware was not built to support this version of the operating system.

If you have any questions regarding this topic, please leave a comment or submit a support query.

eish...

I hope we can get a workable windows 6.5 rom. So far from everything I have read all the windows 6.5 roms for the Omnia have glitches.
