I imagine if you follow the procedure correctly, you shouldn't have any issues. However, things still can go wrong, such is life. There should be a procedure from wherever you downloaded the rom, or maybe even included in the download package. Otherwise just use google etc.

Does anyone know if spb mobile shell 3.5 and Garmin runs on it?
I also read something about internet connectivity problems on this rom?

Hi Park@82

I am running SPB MS3.5 and Garmin both work fine on this ROM...
No issues at all on this ROM. I use FingerKeyboard 2.1 though as he standard one is no good..

Take it to vodacom/mtn for repairs. If it was me I wouldn't tell them I tried updateing firmware... (The update at own risk policy is BS IMO.) Also have a look around here/try to google the problem. Good luck.

I would upgrde your phone part first. It is on Page 1 of the ROM you are looking at and is a seperate install. It is quick. If you are running DZIA5 I would recommend it before going to this new ROM

Read the manual and do a HARD RESET, Then reflash. It should solve the problem... DONT TAKE IT TO A REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY WITH A FLASHED NON SAMSUNG ROM!!! THEY WILL CHARGE YOU

Hi,

This might already be somewhere on this thread.

Just got the Omnia yesterday.

Everytime I try connecting to GPRS/EDGE/3G+ is displays the following error message:
"Check your ID and Password or otherwise reset the phone to the manufacturer settings"

I've done this twice already, what could be the problem???

Please help

Might be a network problem. When I have no signal or the weather is particularly bad I will get the same error when trying to access the internet.

Have you tried going Start > Settings > Connections > Operator Settings

Then change selected operator to a DIFFERENT one from your actual operator. Hit ok, then wait about 30 seconds and set it back to your actual operator.

Hopefully the navigation is the same as above - I'm on WM 6.5 so it may differ. I can highly recommend installing some custom ROMs, they really are much better than the default samsung one.

Hi Nick,

Thanx for the help buddy, managed to sort it out. I'm still on WM 6.1, Can you recommend a site where I can download a functional WM 6.5?

Thanx again

also thinking of flashing mine with a 6.5 rom as soon as I have the time. Can anyone recommend a good guide to flashing a custom rom, or is it really just straight forward? (I will do it on a XP machine with driver installed)

Take a look here Linky

I used a number of 6.5 ROMS on my Omnia since the early builds, wasn't really all that impressed. I am now using a very nice and stable 6.1 ROM, no hassles. But if you want to try 6.5, I'd recommend a ROM by sector, he is one of the guys on the Modaco forums.
