The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I hope someone can help me, my samsung is in for repairs and probably a software reload, so I'll lose everything, whats worse I have the memory card in another phone and just accidentally formatted it :( Now I think my garmin maps installs from this memory card, is there a way of getting garmin back?

Where is your Garmin CD? You just need to restore the maps from CD to the memory card and re-activate.

Thanks I will go have a look right now for it :) Forgot about that as it was just on the memory card already, such good news!

Guys, Those that never flashed custom roms on there phones, go do some research first. When i got my TyTn(my first WM phone) i read through thousands of threads and forums before i even attempted flashing roms.. If your a first timer, it is recommend to flash with the LATEST ORIGINAL roms first or the best of them! Then you flash a custom rom. And PLEASE read through the guides on how to flash the roms atleast 100 times to make sure you know what to do when and how! I also almost killed my Omnia once, then i realized it was a bad rom(Original rom fixed the problem)! So dont use roms made by any tom dick and harry! Use the roms made by known shefs!! Also, even if it is a known chef, atleast read through his thread for that roms to see what problems other people had and how they fixed it! Helped me out a few times! Sometimes i flash or go through about 2-3 roms a day, if there are new ones, just to find the right one.
Also one word of advice, don't always rush into brand new custom roms, ive seen allot of new roms from known chefs that gave problems and sometimes bricked phone, give it a day or two and see what posts come out from other foolish flashers in the world! :) Good chefs test there roms a million times before releasing it but bugs do slip through sometimes. :)
Once you get the hang of it, its allot of fun to play with diffrent roms, who ever wants that bloated crappy useless original roms thats full of branded spit anyways! :D

Good advice here. It took my awhile to take the leapt and flash an official ROM, never mind a Custom one. I eventually found a nice custom one, saw that others had used it without issues, and took the leap. Flashed two roms in one day without issues!. :D

I also got the TyTn back then, and still have it lying around. Can you recommend a good rom for it :D?
I am currently running Khuanchai's "Omnia WM 6.5.1 ROM base DXIF1 build 23071 with BT-audio fix" and so far it seems fairly stable although I am not overly impressed by 6.5.

With the TyTn, i would stick with 6.1 roms. They are allot faster and more stable on the TyTn specs. I havent been to upto date with the TyTn roms lately. Will have to go and take a look at some. I have always got the TyTn roms from XDA-Developers.com. On the omnia, try out the 6.5.1 roms. They are faster and more stable than the 6.5. I also found that some of the 6.5 roms are way slower than others because of the new home screen and menu layout. Khuanchai's roms are fast, way fast overall. Have a look at his latest build. Im still on his previous build, 1 October 6.5Rom. Will be changing to his latest this weekend. Shokka9 also have some pretty decent builds, but its seems that he has moved on and will not be building anymore roms for omnia. His 6.1 roms are the best.
Rather look for UL(ultra lite) or lite roms, install your own apps, that way the roms are fast and dont have all the clutter that some chefs cook into the roms.
I like the 6.5/6.5.1 builds because of the menu finger browsing, and the fact the the top bar is now exactly what it should be!

My current setup is Khuanchai's 1 October 6.5 rom, with SPB 3.5, Garmin, Wakeup Alarm and MS Facebook app. The rest that i need is on the rom. Plus my odd Contact backup and SMS backup apps that runs from the Storage card. :)

I also used to get all kinds of stuff from XDA-Developers for the tytn.

I am running Khuanchai's latest "UltraLite" ROM. I dont think he will be building a lot of ROM's for the i900 anymore (I think he moved to a OmniaII and he doesn't have a Omnia to test with)
BTW if rapidshare is a bit slow try: http://www.uploadjockey.com/download/2962442/Khuanchai_IF1_23071_UL_PP6.zip
ZippyShare was pretty zippy for me.

Thanks dude.. Will check it out.. Will download and install when i have some time. :)
PS: Anyone have an idea when the B7610 will be officially released. Seems like its delayed for a bunch of changes thats being made to it..

hey guyz im seriously considerin getting a samsung star to offset depression/spoil myself. I gather everything is groovy with the phone except connectivity( hope its faster than my beatbox). Anything else i need to be aware of!!

@Park 82 yes i know but for that type of cash i think samsung is outclassed

I used the Nokia E71 before I moved to the Omnia, all I can say is that I want my Nokia back...this my friends, is a Sh*t phone!

What on earth do the last few post have to do with "Omnia Tips & Tricks"?. If you are getting a phone that is not an Omnia, or do not like the Omnia, start your own thread.... geez, it can't be that hard.

I'm back and need some more help :( So I have my garman CD to load back onto my microsd, can i do this through the SD slot on my laptop? also as my sd card was accidentally formatted by my old samsung phone, my omnia now wont pick it up, and when it does occassionally I try to format it and it says 'format fail'.. any ideas on how to get it working, its the 8GB kingston that came with the Omnia and garmin pre-loaded.

Try format this in the laptop first, then use your Omnia to format the Micro-SD card again.

And yes, you can use your SD slot to restore the program to your micro-sd card.

Khuanchai last rom :( now available:
1 November 2009 - Omnia WM 6.5.1 ROM DXIF1 build 23081 UltraLite with BT-audio fix

ROM specifications:
- WM 6.5.1 build 23081
- UltraLite ROM with some useful free programs. Programs left/added in this UltraLite ROM: Camera, File explorer, FM Radio, Internet sharing, Calculator, Java, Media Album, Notes, Office, Pictures&Videos, Search, Smart converter, Tasks, TV out, Voice Speed Dial, Windows Media Player, WOW HD SBS, AudioGain Control, ContactFix, Favorite Hackings, GPS_XTRA, GSFinder, NoData, PHM Registry Editor, Power options, Shake&save, Torch Button, and IE.
- Bluetooth audio fix to enable voice dialing via BT headset

You have to install Omnia programs by yourself.

To remove Beta watermark, edit this registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Device Beta]
"Today"=""
"Expiry"=""

Note: This will be my last ROM for i900. I have no device to test any new features and no time to make new ROM and support. Sorry about this. I would suggest flashing ROM created by sector, shokka, or those new chefs. They are making better ROMs than mine.

Hi guys.

I upgraded my Omnia to Khuanchai's latest "full" ROM 21876_M2D WM6.5
I have enjoyed this rom and the look and feel, except for a few little things like minute screen misalignments.
One thing I have noticed and I have not pinpointed the problem yet, is that now and then the phone would be in a "dead" state, where i would have to remove the battery to switch it on again.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ?

i am having the same problem and
i am using the latest samsung sa
firmware.

last week i overslept cos my alarm
did not go off and phone was dead.
i knew my phone was charged so i
could not understand what was wrong,
i openef my phone, removed the battery
then after putting it back again i could
switch my phone on again.
