hi folks

anyone else in Sea Point that is in need of some Fibre? :)

I have been in touch with Telkom and apparently they do have FTTH planned for Fresnaye and Sea Point, but does that rule out other companies?

I'm also wondering if you have to have the managing agents approval before Telkom will install Fibre in a complex?

Yeah, I'm also waiting for it to become available.
Speak to your managing agents, it may follow the same basic process as having a phone line installed.

There is currently a Telkom GPON MSAN in Seapoint - Means that fibre will be there soon.

Vanilla and Sonic Wireless already rolling out Fibre to Complexes in Seapoint.

How do you know this?

I'm looking around and I see a lot of digging above main road towards high level but nothing below. It makes no sense, why dont they do the complexes first??

Vanilla and Cybersmart are doing complexes first...

if we want a fibre cable laid for a block of flats (taking body corporate approval into consideration), what is best approach?
Do you have one fibre cable installed to a default location on the premises and then install some form of distribution solution to all the flats? Would the likes of cybersmart, telkom etc do this?

Right so I live in Clarensville on Breach Road opposite the swimming pool and I woke up to the pavement looking like this. They coming straight past is and going up Clarens Road. The company is DFA and according to the contractor they will have a connection going into our block

'Soon'. My area's fibre infrastructure has been under construction for 1.5 months and doesn't look close to completion.

Right, so additional trunking was laid yesterday by Octotel in our building, and according to the guy in charge, our building is now live.

They can take orders from tomorrow.

Goodie :)

I'm in Mouille point further up beach road by the put-put course. I am looking at getting Fibre. Only started researching tonight though... According to my current ISP (Mweb) there should be fibre here. Any thoughts on what package to get or who is the best ISP's in this area?

I was at an Octotel event last night, and they are doing that stretch of road. Head onto their website and you will see.

They seem pretty jacked up, and you can choose from a few different ISP's (mweb is one of them)

Cybersmart rolled out fiber to our block of flats and they ran it across High level road.

We are pretty close to the end of High level, so at this point I'm fairly sure most of that area should technically be covered by Cybersmart
