The Shopping Centre Armed Robbery Thread....

So shopping malls even in good parts are no longer safe. Like one of the last bastions of safety for people who wanted to go out of their houses is in jeopardy.

At least we don't have gangs of vibrant youths rampaging through our malls like they sometimes have in the US.
 
At Canal Walk right now. There is a bit of tension in the air. More visible security in the mall itself but nothing at the entrance that we came in at Checkers. At that entrance in Cellucity, NWJ and another jewellery store. Anywho, just waiting for the SO to return her purchase and we are outa here.

Actually no the police have not changed over the years and regularly torture people not directly connected to the crime they're investigating if you can call it investigating.

I know someone who was severely assaulted by the pigs and then locked up overnight without a charge or warrant of arrest (no reasonable cause either). The person was tortured because the police believed some people alleged to have robbed someone had given the gun used in the robbery to her husband to hide so, she must know where he hid it. All of the people arrested in the group were tortured.

It then turned out the items were found on people in some other area and completely unrelated. Charges dropped, no explanation. The group of cops are known bullies and I helped this person lay a charge and helped pursue the case but the cops kept passing the case from one cop to another because no one wanted to investigate one of their own. Not even internal disciplinary action got taken against the pigs. I live far from them so the case petered out to nothing and these guys continue to operate a torture operation. At least the civil suit is progressing well, but the cops will never be held accountable because no one is pushing them. I personally spoke to the station commander, head of detectives & the IPID. IPID just said the cops are ignoring their request for info, while the police told me I can't ask for information in case I am not a complainant.

Been there yesterday. Loaded with families, hipsters, etc. No tension at all. There was even a pizza bake off competition for Panarottis.

As usual, as with bomb scares which normally leaves people pissed as they can't do their shopping, the only tension then is the guy who cannot consume all his Spur chips at the time when he HAVE to leave.

I hear it was a bigger store as well (Checkers?)
 
Shyte is hitting the fan boys and girls. Now even the malls are dangerous. It's now Internet shopping for food, I guess.

Cape Town has been relatively safe, compared to the Beirut like war zone you have.

Yes but perhaps a certain political party are using their minions to make trouble there? ;)

That would be a less worrying scenario. Unfortunately I'm afraid it may be because the socio-economic situation may be getting worse and more unstable. If criminals are becoming more bold, that is.

More stupid ... how do you rob a shop in Canal Walk without being caught on camera. Must be cANCer then.
