The Shopping Centre Armed Robbery Thread....

Yeah, these robbers have no taste! There's a Computer Mania not too far from the iStore... idiots!

:D

I wonder if these robbers are the same ones touring the peninsula. They've hit them all now, some multiple times, yet no arrests? Soon THIS will be happening here...

We chased them out of Gauteng, now they bugging you people for a bit before they move on.

Geez, people working in cellphone shops and jewellery shops are going to need hazard pay!

iStore Robbed At Canal Walk

CAPE TOWN – An iStore at the Canal Walk shopping centre has been robbed.

Armed men stormed the shop shortly before the mall closed last night.

While the robbers were fleeing, they shot and wounded a security guard and a customer was apparently assaulted.

This is just one of several incidents in recent weeks in which criminals have targeted shopping malls in Cape Town.

Last week, Business Against Crime South Africa said there's been a noticeable increase in robberies at Western Cape shopping malls.

Armed robbers have also targeted the Parow, Somerset, Blue Route and Zevenwacht shopping malls in recent weeks.

At the same time, several Gauteng shopping centres have been hit by robbers in recent months including three iStores at Cresta, the Glen and Centurion with iPads and iPhones worth hundreds of thousands of rands being taken.

Its because their fraud management process is poor.

The phones are over the border in no time and free to use without any blacklist block.

And they're lucrative phones.

Tygervalley Vodacom robbed last week, Cape Gate Foschini robbed Monday night, Canal walk last night, Blue Route Mall 2 weeks ago, Somerset mall 3 weeks ago. A good time to do online shopping.

MAN HELD FOR ISTORE ROBBERY

A man has been arrested for an armed robbery at the iStore in Canal Walk, Cape Town, police said on Friday.

The 33-year-old was apprehended at a residence in Strand on Thursday, Lt-Col Andrè Traut said.

"It is suspected that the suspect formed part of a group of men who robbed the business [on Wednesday] of a number of cellular phones and other electronic devices," he said.

"We are hot on the heels of the other suspects and the possibility of more arrests is not ruled out."

Still, how do you manage to get from the iStore and out of the Canal walk parking, you always see those guards inside Canal Walk so how did none of them manage to see/do anything while inside the store?

I suspect that they have a 'don't engage armed robbers unless somebody's life is at direct risk' policy -to avoid a firefight that could leave many shoppers dead/injured.
