wtf just happened in this thread? all the robberies pushing peoples stress levels sky high.
 
BREAKING: Robbery in progress at Bedford Centre. The mall has been sealed off and by all accounts, robbers still inside.
Shots fired. There are apparently injuries.
Stay away from the area if possible.

JOHANNESBURG – There’s been a shooting at the Bedford Centre in Bedforview, east of Johannesburg.

Police and emergency services are at the scene.

It’s not yet clear exactly what happened, but several shots have been fired.

One witness describes what he saw.

“As I came out of the toilet I just saw people firing guns. A lady came past me and she was shot in the crossfire. Three people were shot. I think it was a robbery.”

A woman says she’s in the building and is hiding under a flight of stairs.

“They have shot people. There’s a huge gang. I don’t know what they robbed but there’s one still inside here. There are still gun shots going off. It’s chaos.”

Bedford Centre has confirmed there’s been an incident but is not releasing any further details at this stage.

FOUR WOUNDED IN BEDFORDVIEW SHOOTING: PARAMEDICS

Three men and a woman were shot and wounded in Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg, on Thursday, paramedics said.

"I can confirm that four people were injured, ranging from from serious to critical," Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said.

"The patients are all being treated at the scene and will transported to various hospitals."

She said all had sustained gunshot wounds, and that police were on the scene investigating.

Steinman was unable to provide further details but pictures circulated on social networking site Twitter showed it happened at the Bedfordview Shopping Centre.

Provincial police spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza referred queries to Lt-Col Katlego Mogale who could not be reached for comment.

Johannesburg emergency services spokeswoman Nana Radebe referred queries to Ekurhuleni emergency services and metro police.

Ekurhuleni metro police spokesman Wilfred Kgasago could not be reached for comment.

Ekurhuleni emergency services spokesman Rogers Mamaila could also not be reached for comment.

Cash-in-transit robbers are trapped inside Bedford Centre in Bedfordview.

The SAPS and Metro Police have, for now, placed the area in lock-down.

The Bedfordview journalist, Duenna Mambana, is on the scene and reported that several shots were fired.

Two women were injured in the gunfire. Reports indicate both women are still inside the centre.

“It appears more people may have been injured. The area is in lock-down. There are still robbers inside. I can also see people trying to get out of the centre,” said Duenna.

“As far as we know, guards from SBV were coming down the escalator when the robbers attacked. Witnesses reported hearing automatic gunfire. One suspect has been arrested. The others are still inside,” said Duenna.

“It seems it could have been a well-organised attack,” said Duenna.
