You can use a splitter to connect the two radios to a single flat panel. So if I get the 2mbps modem, how do I connect it to the external antenna? Can I connect it to the flat-panel antenna? What about the omni antenna? Will I require 2 external antennas?
No, you need to pay the difference. Also, what is the most cost-effective way to get the 2mbps modem? I read that it was R1299 on a prepaid account, though the prepaid topup prices are insane. Can I purchase the modem on prepaid, and then switch it over to a month-to-month account?
There is an old prepaid and a new prepaid. Please contact customer services.I also see now that prepaid recharges only last 30 days. The last recharge I bought was about 1 year ago - about R300 for 3GB of data which expires only after a year (end of this month). I can't seem to find this option on the website any more. The prepaid is a bit confusing, as you get 30mb per month included, but after that you have to topup. The data can accumulate, but not the airtime window. Can someone explain this to me please?
Nope, it is two radios. The splitter is made by Poynting. Thanks for the reply r00igev@@r. Regarding the antenna, are you sure that that setup will work, or is recommended? From an engineering point of view, it doesn't make sense (to me, in my limited knowledge). 2 antennas, being merged into one, defeats the purpose of having 2 antennas. Won't the max speed be then 1mbps instead of 2mbps, thus defeating the whole purpose of getting the 2mbps modem?

Will contact customer service regarding the prepaid. Thnx.

AFAIK its like your old school tv antenna , no mater how many tvs you have conected to it the signal is the same (baring boosters etc ), all it does it picks up the signal better then if you try and do the same indoors
I have been using my 2 meg modem for a couple of weeks now, and there is one thing that is driving me nuts about the modem...
It seems to loose its connection to the tower at random times. When this happens, I have to turn the modem off for about 10 seconds and then on again before it will connect again.
I old 1 meg desktop modem doesn't have these problems and never drops the connection.
I have my modem connected directly to my pc's network port because it was worse when I had it connected through my switch.
Went I spoke to the iBurst help desk, they told me that Ihave to connect it through a router. Is this correct?
Is anyone else having the same problems?
Measuring iBurst signal strengthapologies if this is a stupid question...i've had my 2meg modem for 2 months now and this is the first i hear of a web frontend...how does one get to the web frontend?
R630 for a splitter?I've double checked the connection and it seems fine, so I'm seems that I've wasted R630 on the splitter!
From Iburst - I paid over the R499 and was then informed that I still had to pay R130 for delivery as wellR630 for a splitter?Where was that from?
At that price I'd rather get a second antenna!
Hey guys,
Need some tech advice from some of you with the new 2MB iBurst kit. (I would prefer an iBurst tech that knows his stuff, but feel free to shoot the breeze while I wait)
My specs are as follows:
intel Core i7 2600K
8GB Kingston DDR3 2300?
intel DP67BG M-Board
2TB Seagate SATA3
nVidia 570 GTX
Windows 7 64 bit
iBurst SilverSurfer, connected directly to onboard network (no router config)
My problem is high latency and and crappy torrent downloads after upgrading to the SilverSurfer and the Max 25+ package. iBurst call centre staff aren't really clued up to help on the more technical side of things, and waiting for a call back is like waiting for the second coming...
Previously, using the 1MB (orange) Desktop modem, my ping to most SA gaming servers was between 55-70ms. The new modem does no less than 130ms average. Games like COD and BF2BC as well as the new BF3 have been lagging quite badly since the upgrade. A further issue is that my torrents now seem to come down at a full speed of 10kb/s, where previously it would run at pretty much 100kb/s...? Is it being throttled now?
When opening the modem details in chrome (192.168.0.1) I get a screen showing 100% signal with an average of no more than 1.5% packet or frame loss (don't recall the term). So apparently I do have a good signal.
Here's the confusing bit however... I've used ping (in Admin CMD) to test my best MTU (ping google.com -f -l "MTU size") The best I could achieve without packet errors was an MTU of "1210". According to most sites, the MTU should be between "1352" and "1392". Why would the MTU have to be so low for me to successfully submit?
The old modem is gone now...So can't exactly revert back, but am I crazy for expecting better from a newer modem and a package upgrade? I don't think so...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey peeps
I've had the desktop modem for 2 years, coupled with an omni connected high on my roof I was able to get pretty much full download speeds - +-1mb/s.
Now I got the new silver surfer I was hoping I'd be able double it.
But I can't seem to get more than 140kb/s - if I'm lucky?
I've got my omni connected to it via Ibursts splitter - funny thing is that whilst I was waiting for the splitter to be delivered I connected the omni to just one of the aerials and I got pretty much the same speed?
I've double checked the connection and it seems fine, so I'm seems that I've wasted R630 on the splitter!
Is there anything I can try or check?
Also, I've been getting a lot of disconnects at night - I'd check my downloads in the morning only to find that it disconnected early on.
