The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Got my X1 today (after my HTC TyTN II got water damage at the beach! yeah, i know...)

I can confirm that the TyTN II version of handymap works solidly for GPS navigation. It does not make optimal use of the screen's weird aspect ratio but it still works fine.

Wayfinder seems to be a disaster?? It just crashes when I launch it.

I've been using handymap for years and got all my favourites in it... but I'll check out Tomtom etc too. Which gps apps would you guys recommend?

Congratulations ploftrof

I would recommend using garmin xt for now.....only marine1 has tt7 map setup figured out....waiting for him to help me

Congrats plofstrof, great choice of phone...yea I am currently using garmin mobile and it works great. Wayfinder is a diaster and dont waste your time on it.

Once marine1 has the procedure for all of us then you can try TomTom and see which one you prefer to use.

quick question on TomTom can you load a service that tells you where all the speed cams and know trapping points are for SA?? Because i have seen many of these kind of things for users in the Uk... If this is possible it would save me a lot of money in fines??

Thanks a lot man... that would be awesome. I like the sound of knowing where the speed camera's are because i drive around a lot in area's i dont know to well and often get hit with fines.

well, well done for getting it to work...
i am going to be away from home for a couple of days but when i am back we can link up on msn and go through the process and i will then download everything i need. Are you able to upload the stuff??

sounds like a plan... in the mean time will use garmin, when im back at home and able to download will give you a shout.

thanks again

Very nice, much smaller than my Iphone, very responsive, very fast. Great speaker, so far the only complaint is that in sunlight, you cannot see the display very well unlike the Iphone.
The GPS makes a huge difference, the Iphone google maps is a joke and a waste of time.
This phone is truly amazing, very nice and I think Sony have a winner here, the display is a bit small but the size of the phone is incredible, much smaller than the Iphone.
Well done to SE

What do you think?

I would have to agree the phone for me is a lot smaller than i expected and fits in the hand perfectly. For me it looks stunning and feels great in the hand and i love the screen. They really do have a winner. It is my first win mobile device and to be honest i dont know what all of the fuss is about.. because it is truly responsive on the phone.

I do agree with you that in the sunlight you do have a bit of a problem but most of my other phones had that problem so will get over it.

I think with more panels and cool apps this phone could dominate for a while to come.

hey marine .. could you do a post with the neccessary files to bitfarm.. let me know your username (I didnt see an identical one ;) ) so i can search it and download it .. then I have a machine that can keep it seeded pretty much 24/7 a.. and I have unlimited local .. so that might help "distribute" *cough* it ..

The crack tool and a walkthrough would be awesome too ...

let me know
