greetings renvillo and welcome to the world of cooked roms. pretty much everyone on this thread is dabbling in custom rom installations and LOVING it.

first things first. google XDA forums X1

go to custom rom installation forums and read the first thread called hardSPL. when you finished reading it READ IT AGAIN. :)
once you have hardSPL'd your phone you can then install any custom ROM you like.
most guys here, including myself will recommend installing the Valkyrie Firestorm which is wm6.5.

but if you get stuck give us a shout, we will love to help

ok and here is the disclaimer ..... doing this technically does void your warranty, however many of us have successfully re installed standard rom and undone the hardspl

eish never really even bothered using the video recording. Spose working in the TV industry with the biggest multimillion rand HD cameras kinda voids me wanting to record video on a phone hehe
 
Are there any bugs with the 6.5ROM?

I really want to but yea.. mmmm.... I had bad signal with my phone but I did do a update from SE a few days back and it's been better but the look of 6.5 just looks so nice...

Edit: Can you peharps give me the link to the latest ROM for 6.5?
 
I slapped on Valkyrie Firestorm LEO ... without reading that half the stuff doesnt work hehe..

Trying to find manilla ...

cant seem to find it in the valkyrie thread , can someone maybe assist?

Also ... is there a non-fancy , non-flashy winmo6.5 available that is stable and everything working? If not wha tis the best older winmo rom? Ive read lots of this thread , but 70 pages takes a while...

which version of leo did you install ? 2.8.5 is latest

when you say trying to find manilla, are you referring to touchflo? to switch on touchflo go to start menu (top left), go to settings, go to today, tab right to Items, and then tick touchflo

seriously give firestorm or touchX a try
 
all i really want is a 6.5 winmo rom that works ...
firestorm was really nice , but i need landscape and mms ...
 
So I have got myself a neotel prime unlimited account and have since gone download crazy and got all the latest roms.

I was up till four this morning trying them all out and I have to say I am thoughouly enjoying Jack V3.x Medium. link below

Boot up is 45 seconds from vibrate and I just cannot slow it down, so far has all I need, but will report back later.

FYI

here are the other ROMs i tested
Jack 2.1 Lite
PURE WM 6.5 for XPERIA
SEX1
Touch IT v12
Touch IT Leo
Touch X 10
Valkie FS 2.7
V-lite wm6.5 v4.3


I ahve not been using phone alot today cause I'm on holiday, but will report back never the less

ok newb, remember their are a couple versions of the Valkrye Firestorm rom. you obviously loaded up the Leo version. Leo is a BIG BETA version, with the beta of the new touchflo.

if you looking for stability and mms and lanscape then the regular firestorm is what you are looking for.
 
I say that the stock X1 ROM is the best... Screw all these beta and almost good ROM's.

I'll wait for a final one with SP 2, lol
 
tsponge, i see you didnt test the firestorm 2.8.5 and firestorm leo 2.8.5?

With Firestorm 2.8.5, I get occasional error message "unable to start TouchFLO 3D, tap here to try again". Only Sort reset seems to temporarily fix the problem. Other than that, its pretty stable and fast.

Guru I have the maps you need. If someone can guide me to setup something where you can download them from my machine or an FTP i will be glad to help
 
Dont get it. firestorm is the slowest rom i ever used. Sex1 outperforms any rom. All that sex1 needs is fingerkeyboard. Firestorm feels bloated. wifi is not working proper, no landscape mms etc, batery gets sucked up in a day... but ya, looks great.

I can just recommend sex1, specially when u want speed. And it looks great to.
 
you know Blogbytes I have to agree with you.

There is just something about FS that is always not working and sure it is progressing fast, but everytime a new release is installed, something else goes wrong.

Apart from the issues you mentioned I have to add, what a mission it can sometimes be to get the internet sharing working.

But let us progress forward and suggest solutions.

I would recommend Jack Lite - Medium and second to that Sex1 and would encourage all to download, try and provide feedback.

honestly ... after struggling with roms etc ... i just went back to unbranded standard r3a.

i would love winmo 6.5 but its too unstable

my stock rom might not be uber quick ... but everything works. no issues. Why should i then consider another rom?
 
Tsponge . you spot on the money there!!!

Im also not feeling the love towards firestorm at the moment. each release has something new wrong with it, we would have thought by now, and like 738 releases in the past week, they would have ironed out most of the crapssss.

so tsponge im gonna go with your recommendations and try Jack Lite....

gonna download now and install
