There’s an all-new Suzuki Swift on the way and after this week’s teaser image, we share what we know about the legendary B-segment hatchback so far.
The current-shape Suzuki Swift is approaching the end of its current lifecycle, with this generation first landing in SA back in 2018. The Japanese carmaker has been hard at work developing the next all-new Suzuki Swift and recently sent out some teaser images to give us an idea of what’s to come.
While it’s officially tagged as the Swift Concept, what we see here looks too refined to be a concept and we suspect that its 99% the production model. This Swift Concept will be revealed to the public in October 2023 at the Japan Mobility Show and we’ll be in attendance.
The info accompanying the images was short and sweet, and the all-new Swift will feature a high-efficiency engine, advanced safety technology like collision mitigation braking, adaptive high beam and driver monitoring system.

The new, 2024 Suzuki Swift has revealed itself to the world in production guise, although it doesn’t hold too many surprises.
Looking virtually identical to the concept car that was displayed at the recent Tokyo Mobility Show, the new Suzuki Swift is now listed as a model for purchase on the company’s Japanese web page.
The exterior design is largely evolutionary, with the headlights taking on a more vertical orientation and intersected at the top by a smaller clamshell bonnet. At the side, the blacked out A-pillars remain, while the rear door handles have moved back from the B-pillars to their traditional position on the doors.
The Maruti Suzuki version of the new Swift, which South Africa will almost certainly continue to import, should look almost identical to the Japanese model we see here, but it’s likely to be simplified beneath the skin.
The JDM spec Suzuki Swift debuts a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, codenamed Z12E and replacing the four-cylinder unit in the current model.

Nope. The EU/Japan one won't get here anyway, we will see the 2024 Maruti Swift next year and it will probably participate in the Bharat NCAP at some point.

Suzuki reveals all-new Swift ahead of Spring 2024 launch
A new 1.2-litre hybrid engine, refreshed interior and overhauled safety technology pack lead the changes
Suzuki has pulled the covers from its all-new Swift, and it looks… exactly like the concept. But while the designers may have taken a sabbatical since Suzuki’s preview event, its engineers certainly haven’t. That means the Swift gets new features, headlined by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder mild hybrid engine and a torrent of safety tech.
So what can we see in terms of styling, then? Well, a lightly modified black ‘piano’ grille features alongside the handsome L-shaped headlamps. Those sit right above the first of the hollow dimples that can be seen across most of the Swift’s lower sections.
But while the curvy front looks fun and playful, we’re not particularly keen on the rear. It’s very straight, very square and very serious, to the point where it looks uncomfortable with the awkward posture it’s being forced to adopt. It looks mid-squat, with no intention of going fully up or down.
Questionable exterior aside, its interior design and general technology suite do allow the Swift to claw some points back. The centre console is angled towards the driver to improve ergonomics, while a neat black/grey dashboard and door trim combo is further adorned by satin dark silver accents.
