The Syrian Conflict Thread

Its going to be very entertaining watching the Putin shills explain how this bombing of the UN aid convoy is everyone's fault besides Russia/Syria.
Hold on i need some popcorn for this entertainment.
Better go to the shops for more popcorn, at this rate i could cancel netflix.

Someone is trying too hard

Convoy was apparently hit by laser guided barrel bombs.

That seems a contradiction, barrel bombs are/were low tech explosive devices kicked out of helicopters (basicallly a barrel of explosives with a fuse), how do you laser guide such a low tech device?

"A barrel bomb is an improvised unguided bomb, sometimes described as a flying IED (improvised explosive device). They are typically made from a large barrel-shaped metal container that has been filled with high explosives, possibly shrapnel, oil or chemicals as well, and then dropped from a helicopter or airplane.

There have been 382 attacks on medical facilities in Syria between March 2011, when the Syrian civil war began, and June 2016, according to data collected by Physicians for Human Rights. Of those strikes, at least 344 — or 90 percent — were conducted by Syrian government forces or Russian forces fighting on behalf of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. These forces have also killed over 700 medical personnel in Syria, according to the group’s statistics.

...

And, in fact, the UN independent inquiry commission on Syria stated in a report earlier this month that “[t]he pattern of attacks [by the Syrian regime], and in particular the repeated bombardments, strongly suggests that there has been deliberate and systematic targeting of hospitals and other medical facilities during this reporting period.”

To leave Assad without power over the country and to essentially have the country in disarray, the US strategy seems to be working perfectly to me.

At the cost of letting the al Qaeda's and ISIS groups of the world run loose ... +/-130 dead people in Paris would like an opportunity to disagree that the strategy is successful.

USA wants Russia and Syria to honour a no-fly zone while they won't?!? :crylaugh:

As someone who now lives in a country that Russia would have no problem invading, it would be greatly appreciated if Boris could stop running his mouth.

In a stunning allegation, one which would lead to dramatic gepolitical implications, the speaker of the People's Council of Syria said on Monday that the Syrian intelligence possesses an audio recording of conversation between Islamic State terrorists and the US military taken just prior to the Washington-led coalition's airstrikes on the government troops near Deir ez-Zor on September 17 which left over 60 Syrian troops dead.

Man, the popcorn that's going to be needed if this accusation turns out to be legit...

In a striking interview with German journalist Jürgen Todenhöfer published today the German press including the prominent newspaper Focus, a militant jihadist commander said that US weapons are being delivered to Jabhat Al-Nusra by governments that Washington supports, adding that American instructors were in Syria to teach how to use the new equipment.

You know I actually hope this article is wrong.

Strange article as JaN doesn't exist anymore and the successor group Jabhat Fateh al-Sham was only recently designated a terrorist organisation by the US.

Still the same group of terrorists, does the name really matter?

Just like Daesh = ISIS = ISIL = IS, JaN = JFaS
