3M-14 - DOD designation SS-N-30A. An Inertial guidance land attack variant deployed by the Russian Navy. The submarine-launched weapon has a basic length of 6.2 m (20 ft), with a 450 kg (990 lb) warhead. Its range is 1,500–2,500 km (930–1,550 mi). Its subsonic terminal speed is Mach 0.8.

3M-14T - DOD designation SS-N-30A; is the Inertial guidance land attack variant which is deployed by the Russian Navy. A surface ship with VLS launched missile, with thrust vectoring booster, its basic length is 8.9 m (29 ft), its warhead weight and other performance are the same as the 3M-14.

450kg payload... it's a similar payload used by bunker buster bombs.

EXCLUSIVE: Russian jets "intercept" US predator drones over Syria, officials say

Russian fighter jets shadowed U.S. predator drones on at least three separate occasions high above Syria since the start of Russia’s air campaign last week, according to two U.S. officials briefed on this latest intelligence from the region.

“The first time it happened, we thought the Russians got lucky. Then it happened two more times,” said one official.

Both officials said that the incidents took place over ISIS-controlled Syria, including its de facto headquarters in Raqqa, as well as along the Turkish-Syrian border near Korbani. Another occurred in the northwest, near the highly contested city of Aleppo.

The U.S. military's MQ-1 Predator drone is not a stealth aircraft.

"It is easy to see a predator on radar," said one official.

The Russians have not attempted to shoot down any of the U.S. drones, but instead have flown "intercept tracks," a doctrinal term meaning the Russians flew close enough to make their presence felt, according to one official.

One other official said, “the Russians flew very close, but did not impede the drone flight....”

At least the Russians are doing something about ISIS/ISIL/DAESH. And the irony is that these caliphate loonies really can be attributed to US interventionism gone wrong. Especially when you consider how badly US efforts to train and arm Syrian rebels against Assad backfired when many instead ended up joining ISIS along with their US training and weapons. Of course, ISIS itself has its roots in the generals that fled Iraq to Syria during the Iraq invasion. So all around, an epic US fail. It increasingly looks like the only power that is showing any sign of concrete leadership is Russia. The US is totally paralyzed by the results of their meddling - they want Assad out, but the militia they trained to rebel against Assad partly broke away and joined ISIS who are sworn enemies of the US, but who are also at war with Assad. Committing ground troops to combat ISIS is politically out of the question for Obama which basically means that they have singlehandedly created a bloody civil war and handicapped themselves from doing anything about it, while the caliphate seems to be growing in strength by the day. It seems that all the US has achieved in the ME over the last two decades is to convert and polarize mostly secularist regimes into fundamentalist factions and the result is that the world is a far more dangerous place than it was before the gulf wars. Future historians will not look kindly on either GW Bush or Obama's foreign policy achievements in the ME, it has been frankly disastrous.

So is the US going to arm ISIS even more now?

No, lol. Mercenaries may work against an under-fire regime like Assad; not against Russia...

It's game over for the mercenary game.

America has two options.. Let Russia clean up; or declare war on them.

The latter would be catastrophic.

History will, ultimately, blame Truman for screwing up the middle east in 1948

Or let Russia get bogged down in an air campaign that is going to be costly and possibly very ineffective.

I remember the previous time they high tailed out of a country to leave the USA to clean up. The devil in putin is sly indeed.

We have to see evidence that they did target ISIS and not just anti Assad rebels. ;)

Why? The Russians have their own agenda and as they are there on Assad's invitation I would think they would be taking action against all of his enemies. Russia isn't there to follow the instructions of the US, if anything they will probably do what they can to embarrass the US.

How do you get bogged down in the air?

Very odd comment or just the usual rhetoric. They are supporting the Syrian army, who are on the ground.
