Now off track and debating Ukraine and Crimea.

Waiting for the WWII discussion to start.

Your arguments were the number of voters, hence the parallels.
Only cuz that was Dave's argument. I was pointing out that his argument is not as convincing as he makes it out to be. So it's not really my argument.

Yanukovich ran away because he lost the moment, he hesitated, he made couple of bad decisions, he got scared. If you look at the timeline of the "coup", you will see that he started moving things out of his residence few days before he ran away. He was panicking, he was in no condition to run the country anymore. Even after he ran to russia, being the "legitimate" president, he never invited russians to invade Ukraine, or to annex Crimea.
Yeah, I'm sure the snipers who shot at the police and then later at the protestors that sparked everything off had nothing to do with it. And I'm sure the fact that the cops and the protestors had injuries from the same guns are just coincedental. And Putin's warning Yanukovych that it was coming was also just a by-the-by thing, Putin certainly didn't take his own warning seriously enough to come to the conclusion there actually was a coup.

Do you really want to debate as to whether or not Moscow views the Ukranian regime as having been installed by the United States? Seems a bit pointless to me.

There is no doubt that the official moscow's position is like that.
But one cannot exclude the chance that those snipers could have come from russia "with love" to heat the things up and to push yanukovich to do something. The problem with yanukovich was that he couldn't decide which way to go. First EU, then russia. He ordered to start shooting the protesters, but didn't go all the way. Then he went to some dodgy conference (!) in the middle the worst crisis in Ukrainian history, but didn't attend it. He was acting crazy. At that point he didn't know what to do anymore and he panicked. So, whatever happened afterwards, was his own fault. And certainly not how putin expected.

Huh, didn't realise Russia (or anyone for that matter) would have any sort of warship of substance in the Caspian sea given that its landlocked and has shrunk to a 3rd of its size.

Putin has forgotten the disaster that was Afghanistan.

Most probably kicked the hornet's nest repeatedly.

Should be interesting to see what will happen next.

Join the navy. See the world. Then get posted to a ship on the Caspian sea. These are probably all the guys who have annoyed someone in the Russian Navy's top brass :)

Why - they are targeting ISIS, not the US.

Oh wait!

Its entertaining reading your posts. When I first started reading the drivel your spew out, I thought this guys cant be using his real name and post this crap. But then when read what you post, its entirely possible that Patrick Hockstetter is your real name.
