The more sensible answer is that they didn't want to harm ISIS until Assad was gone because ISIS is the most effective opponent to Assad at the moment and the whole conflict in Syria was engineered to get rid of him as has been shown in repeated American political documents that have been leaked to the press from various sources.

But nice try @ blaming it all on your ideological opponents within the West yet again.
 
Mystery over who bombed Turkish convoy allegedly carrying weapons to militants in Syria

A Turkish convoy, which according to some reports was transporting weapons to terrorist organizations, has been hit by apparent airstrikes in northwestern Syria.

Footage released online by the Istanbul-based Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) shows plumes of smoke from the burning trucks and people running about in panic. At least 20 trucks were engulfed in flames.

The mission, however, wasn’t sponsored or organized by the IHH, the group said. No organization has as yet confirmed that the convoy belonged to them.

The Turks getting even more mired in controversy, arresting their own prosecutors and police for trying to investigate illegal arms supplies to rebel/terrorist groups in Syria.

Turkey on Wednesday arrested four prosecutors and a gendarme officer for trying to carry out a search of Syria-bound trucks belonging to the state intelligence agency that they suspected of illegally carrying arms for rebels fighting Syria's government.

Turkey denies that allegation and any suggestion it has delivered arms to Islamist militants.

Private broadcaster CNN Turk said the five were charged with attempting to "topple or incapacitate" the government through use of force or obtaining and exposing information regarding the security and political activities of the state.

Further to the story in my last post, the Turkish government have also arrested the journalists that reported on the smuggling case where the the prosecutors and police were arrested. Apparently reporting on the matter constitutes spying according to Erdogan.

Two journalists from an opposition Turkish newspaper have been arrested, accused of spying by an Istanbul court following reports that Turkey's intelligence agency sent weapons to Islamist rebel groups in Syria.


The two men are accused of spying and "divulging state secrets", according to reports, as well as being members of a terror organisation. Another charge included the violation of state security after the release of the footage.

Such charges could see the men face life imprisonment.

In January 2014, Turkish security forces intercepted the trucks sent by National Intelligence Agency (MIT) twice following tip-offs to prosecutors that they were illegally taking arms to Syria . The stories made the front page and since then, Turkey has often been accused of supporting Islamist Syrian rebels fighting against Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president.

A spokesperson of the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) told Sputnik on Friday that the absence of anti-IS coalition airstrikes “has nothing to do with the S400 deployment” in Syria.

“The fluctuation or absence of strikes in Syria reflects the ebb and flow of battle,” the spokesperson said, adding that CJTF-OIR deliver airstrikes when and where it needs to, dedicating a lot of time to researching targets to ensure maximum effect and minimizing civilian casualties.

IMO the Western Air Forces should leave the area, they have no further contribution to make.

ISIS hides behind civilians, and you cannot target them without inflicting significant civilian casualties. This doesn't seem to bother the Syrian Air Force, but won't be acceptable to the Western Air Forces, and this makes them ineffective.

The Syrian and Russian Air Forces are adequate for the situation.

Apart from that you need boots on the ground, and the Western Forces won't contribute to that, so they must go.

The Turks will probably keep to themselves now, after the SU-24 incident and the implementation of the S400 system..

Russia have now committed, after years of non-committal, now they must run with it. They seem to be able to afford it, so that's fine.

The Western powers can spend the money that they save (on military action) on assistance to Syrian refugees, the flow of which will surely increase.

This. Sadly that will strengthen Assad and the whole Arab spring will begin again sometime in future.

I just find it sad about the double standards by the world and MyBB members. US/Israel bombs civilians...world/MyBB outcry, but Russians bomb civilians ...hail the lord, "Allahu akbar", etc! So sad and sickening.
