The more sensible answer is that they didn't want to harm ISIS until Assad was gone because ISIS is the most effective opponent to Assad at the moment and the whole conflict in Syria was engineered to get rid of him as has been shown in repeated American political documents that have been leaked to the press from various sources.Actually it's very clear. Firstly the military action taken against ISIS has been little more than a token gesture to serve narrow domestic political considerations. To be seen to be doing something while at the same time adhering to delusional ideological convictions that intervening creates more terrorists and only ever serves to make the situation worse.
But nice try @ blaming it all on your ideological opponents within the West yet again.
