Very cool.

Actually had my first encounter with a tattoo poephol last week.

60+ year old client was busy paying at the counter, saw my two pieces on my forearms and actually asked: "Now why would you go and screw up your skin with stuff like that?"

I simply asked why it bothered him so much what other people did with their bodies. He mumbled something along the lines of I won't understand anyway and then left immediately as I gave him his invoice and receipt.

My sales rep who was in the office at that stage asked "WTF was that about" and said I handled it a lot better than he would have.

I just shook my head and laughed it off. 1 in a million. And takes all kind to make the world go round I guess.

On another note. At the weekend's braai we found a friend's drunken tattoo from 18 years ago when he was in Ireland.

He tries to hide it. We think it is cool.
No story behind it other than he was drunk with his Irish girlfriend, walked into a tattoo shop in Dublin and picked what he thought was a cool image from the books on the table.

Interesting...
I haven't experienced that yet. However I am getting a lot of staring/gawking now. Makes me wonder what people will do when the rest of the arm is inked.
When I was at the Dr the day before yesterday to get meds for this blasted bacterial infection going around- I turned to sit down to wait to be called, the entire lot of people in the queue were looking at me as if I escaped from the zoo. One bitch even shook her head... FFS.

Everyone I mentioned this to said its because my ink is really bright and to just ignore them. So that's what I am doing. Things I like and that have meaning to me, on my skin. They can all go take a bloody hike. They will never understand.

Any recommendations for some awesome tattoo fonts. Have some words I want done on my forearm. Any recommendations on word tattoos

That is a matter of personal choice. I am not a fan of letters on skin in the main. I am even less a fan of all that cursive writing one often sees because its so common

I know letter bleeding is a consideration?

Well, if the text is very small yes, but I mean its the same as any other tattoo. It all depends on the skill of the artist.
My artist has a couple of lines of text on his left arm and they are in the same shape as the rest of his ink, they're all just faded from age, but they didn't blow out.
The ink on his hand though... as we expect, faded quite badly... because he, after all, works with his hands, a LOT.

surprised of the stories about people being judged for their tattoos. They seem so common place at the moment that I would think everyone would be used to it.
I havent really had much except for the occasional questions like "how much did it cost" "Did it hurt" and "what does it mean"

Will go on the recommendation of the artist, but needs to be eloquent as well to match the words.

I chose this cursive because it flowed with the curve.

Care to share the words you want and what part of your body?

No probs if you'd prefer to wait for the big reveal :)

If I am staring at your tattoo's it means I like the look of them and am brainstorming idea's for when I finally do my left arm.
