ITC Habana, after much backwards and forwards movement has settled on a new course, direct for the Mascarene region. Habana is currently rated as a TC.

I'm wondering if this intense rain did affect the casa boha link as our international imports have been down almost half this last week.
 
Habana has strengthened again but is making a loop! Moving SE at the moment quite slowly. This every weird behaviour for a cyclonic system.

The 20 -21 season in our part of the world is now over.

The 2020–21 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season was an above-average season that produced 12 named storms, with 7 becoming tropical cyclones. The season started with the formation of Cyclone Alicia in the extreme northeast section of the basin on 12 November, just before the official start of the season, which marked the third season in a row in which a tropical cyclone formed before the official beginning of the season. It officially began on 15 November 2020, and ended with the dissipation of Cyclone Jobo on 24 April, 6 days before the official end on 30 April 2021, with the exception for Mauritius and the Seychelles, for which officially ended on 15 May 2021.

A powerful tornado has swept through several villages in the south-eastern Czech Republic, injuring 150 people and causing major damage, local media say.

Thursday's storm blew off roofs from a number of buildings in the southern Breclav and Hodonin districts, uprooting trees and overturning cars.

The worst-hit places looked like a war zone in videos posted by witnesses.

Rescue teams from across the country and also from neighbouring Austria and Slovakia have been deployed.

I was in New York in 2004 when Frances passed over, still remember it to this day. Clear skies when we into the empire state building, about an hour later we are told sorry can no longer go to the observation as it was too dangerous and the views have all but disappeared. There was very little pre warning, had been in New York for 2 weeks already at that time and we were not warned beforehand.

Ended up being "caught" outside running and then later what felt like "swimming" to the appartment we stayed in about 5 minutes away. It took less than a handful of seconds to become soaking wet. We eventually took refuge in a burger king (this was my 1st time in a burger king, oddly enough there were more South African in that same burger king)

Everything was flooded, the subways basically turned into massive stormwater pipes with people inside

Hurricane Henri, which has strengthened from a tropical storm, is expected to hit New York's Long Island and southern parts of New England on Sunday.

A state of emergency has been declared in parts of New York state as winds of up to 75mph (120km/h) and as much as six inches (15cm) of rain are expected.

Hurricanes are rare for this part of the US coastline.

Ida, now a category four storm, is forecast to be one of the strongest to hit Louisiana in 150 years.

Traffic jams clogged some motorways out of Louisiana as residents in many areas were ordered to evacuate.

Governor John Bel Edwards warned the storm could be one of the biggest to hit the state in 150 years.

"Your window of time is closing," he warned residents on Saturday.

"By the time you go to bed tonight you need to be where you intend to ride the storm out and you need to be as prepared as you can be, because weather will start to deteriorate very quickly tomorrow."
