Cloud seeding has been trialled in an attempt to induce early eyewall replacement in order to reduce the intensity of hurricanes. Once it was found that this is a natural event anyway that occurs pretty much with every Cat 4 storm and up, it was immediately discontinued.

Humans have been doing mass "geoengineering" since the industrial revolution. We kinda need to stop that. Somehow rightwing nuts suddenly think we can now control the climate but ignore that we have been doing it since we found out coal can make cheap electricity.

Yeah, hope is fine. Wind shear could be a factor, but it's not wise to bank on the best case scenario. Best case is mostly as likely/unlikely as the worst. Hurricanes are known to piss all over anybody's expectations.

So they should wisely prepare for something in the middle:
  • A Cat4 landing
  • A foot or two greater surge
  • A couple inches more of rain
  • It's passage over Florida taking a few hours more.
That's how you cover your bases, instead of leaving bits sticking out.

It's hard to generalise about hurricane tracks, they can go in pretty much any direction, though there are few typical trajectories:

Its actually not fathomable to think how massive this storm is and the damage it can do. I cant even think of 300kph winds...
Sheltering in place is the worst thing you can do here.
