The true Eskom electricity export figures

Incompetent? Incompetent to do what - debate, throw ideas around, discuss opinions etc.

Uniformed? Sorry, I havent worn one of those since school. I believe you meant uninformed - that is called spelling incompetence...

So how much did they just gave away for free [or for some under the table kickbacks] ? That only shows "sold" electricity ?
 
Ok... let me see if I've got this right.

Exports to other countries amount to 6% of Eskom's capacity. This 6% is more than South Africa's residential use, according to the article. Let's say that we use 5% of Eskom's capacity. They want us home users to save 20% of what we normally use. In other words, 1% of their capacity.

I know it's a saving, but what's the point of that?
 
Eskom is a business. Business need to make profit. If home users save elektricity, then Eskom has more to sell to other countries. It's all business.
 
I can't find the blog at the moment but some guy gave a breakdown of Eskom's exports for 2005 and Mozambique was by far the biggest receipient taking two thirds of the exports which amounted to about 4% of SA's generating capacity. Not sure why we both export to Mozambique as well as import from them as well. Mozambique was not so long ago, a net exporter of electricity. I can only think that the Mozal Aluminium smelter is the reason. I won't really believe that Eskom is shedding our neighbours until I start to read in those countries online newspapers that they are now feeling the bite.

True. BUT eskom's business is SUPPLYING _this_ country with a product. A product that ONLY they are MANDATED to supply. Take away the product for long enough, you have no company and no country.

Money makes the world go round....
But electricity powers the process of money and the processes of this country.
