The true MNP numbers

I get slightly diffferent figures when I run a report for those dates (VC). What is interesting though is the difference between prepaid and contract porting figures. I see alot more contract subscribers ported in than ported out +/- 5000 difference while prepaid had alot more subscribers porting out than porting in. Interesting figures on the whole though.

actually better than thought for cell c...

seems like quite a lot of movement between voda and mtn which is interesting

does it follow that cell c has picked up a lot of prepaid...?

I presume cell c attracted a very high prepaid intake from all the other networks and I doubt that a substantial portion of the number of new MNP connections is contract.

@ rpm: is it possible to break these figures down further - prepaid vs contract ports?

i am also interested in the motivations to port from voda to mtn...?

Cell C's porting system works like a 90 year old constipated woman, with HIV.

What a crap company.

I ported from Vodacom to Virgin Mobile just over a month ago. Worst mistake I ever made, Virgin Mobile have absolutely no service, and continually lie. Just yesterday a 'Bianca' called me with regards to an MMS problem, said she'd chat to a few people and get back to me, needless to say, after she put down the phone, that was the last I heard from them. I'm going to port away from them as soon as the two month waiting period is over, in the meantime, I'll fill hellopeter with complaints until they actually start providing a service.

VC = Sucks
MTN = Sucks
Cell C = Sucks
Virgin = Sucks

And there you have it. Our cellphone companies in a nutshell.

Hi Dominic

Unfortunately this is all I have. To the best of my knowledge there is a gentleman’s agreement between operators not to release these figures which are why these ones can be seen as a rare treat. I hope we will get more details at the MTN results :D

Where do we see a list of these "Gentlemans Agreements?"

Are Gentlemens Agreements part of a service contract, etc?

:confused: Please advise!?

Weird ... I've only had good service from them (almost instant phone pickups as well) ... but I suppose it varies :cool:

Cell C just made their stats with their adds IMO.
As for the figures, it doesnt say much coz the customers that ported out probably hate their new SP who knows, so far its all standard figures.

Poor Mr Branson and his brave ideas! Hehehe

His idea would work if his staff gave the service he made the Virgin name out of.... the service in general in this country sucks... And the next time I see him, I'm giving him the names of everyone at Virgin Mobile that pissed me off and arn't bothered enough to return a phone call.. never mind do their job.

I love the way that CellC always seems to blame the other operators. It is their fault that things aren't going smoothly because it is in their interest to delay things. If my mother knows about MNP then I think that the word has got out there. She is porting from CellC to MTN so bat for them. And it is only their bad service that has caused her to do this. So they only have themselves to blame for the issues that made our family switch.

I will be using MNP personally for one reason, and thats to keep my contract sim cards number when I cancel the contract, ill be moving it to prepaid, so in future if I want it again I can keep it.

Else the number would've been discontinued. Therefore some prepaid conversions could actually count as lost customers.
