The Truth behind MWEB's uncapped

I'm more than happy with my MWEB account , but I'm not stupid enough to go and say its perfect - its actually horrible , its just a good kind of horrible when compared to a capped account from 3months ago.

Agree and I appreciate your honesty.

...
Could this possibly be something related to the quality of the Telkom lines and/or installation, local exchanges, router hardware, etc.
If it is EXCLUSIVELY an MWeb issue, then what would that issue be?
...

Multiple users (including myself) have on occasion posted screenshots of latencies/speed tests/<insert other issues> on their MWEB accounts , and then posted the same images of tests/results when they switched to <enter other ISP> account. And with a lot of these cases the problem lied with MWEB and not Telkom.

Fact of the matter stays , neither me nor you have the facts , we just have feedback , and all you can do with feedback is guess to a certain extent.

But from my previously mentioned example , I'm pretty certain a lot of the problems are with MWEB. I signed up with them 2 days after the release of the Uncapped package , and if you compare Browsing speeds , latencies and Stability over the past 3 months , then it definitely deteriorated.

I'm still loving it though , as a download account , not for work or gaming though.

Very true!

So the real question here, is how many people suffer on http (excluding RS. megaload and any similar site)

If you want uncapped unshaped, then dig deep in to your wallet. I have been about 75% happy with the service from MWEB. I can play WoW most nights on my 384k line, only some times it is atrocious. Thats what I have my backup accounts for. I download from 12AM to 7AM when shaping is more relaxed than goatse's farts. In fact, it is you that is at fault for heavy shaping protocols if you expect to download 24/7. "I MUST DRAIN EVERY DROP DRY OUTTA MY 500 BUCKS AND DOWNLOAD TEH INTERNETZ" is the wrong attitude to have.

Only thing that angers me with MWEB at the moment is the "convenient" heavy throttling during weekends. You are not fooling anyone MWEB, stop doing it please.

HavocXphere, true, but then you see that MWEB deny that, they claim stuff like "possible problem with your ADSL line" and such... they've tried those stories with me.

The guy was "errrrrrrrrr" "mmmmmmm" when I said, okay, so, with MWEB I get XX speeds, but when I change to a SAIX account, I get XXX speeds... still think it's a problem with my ADSL line or with MWEB itself and it's HEAVY shaping?!?
Call center people don't like being cornered. So if they either run out of script or the script doesn't cover your situation then they try to wing it with some BS story. 99% of the people they talk to aren't Mybb crew so winging it is a viable strategy. Anyway...hope it gets sorted. More interwebs for all I say.

Please provide evidence to the contrary and I'll reciprocate...

Difficult to prove a negative especialy when you claim browsing, email and vpn are effected. I use all of those regularly for work as I've stated elsewhere and don't ahve issues.

As to download limitations on p2p, I've already stated my point and am still able to avg 250+ gigs a month in usage and thats not even trying to maximise my line by constant downloading. A lot of the time my line sits semi-idle while I game or just plain have nothing that I want to download. Why download the interwebz if its always available :D Something I learnt a long time ago from having a uncapped account for over four years. The mweb account is perfect for me as I'm not a heavy downloader but don't want to suffer with bandwidth restrictions while I utilise my account for whatever I want.

I think that I must mention something, im not a doom prophet or anything but I do not like business ppl lying to the pubic, when we applied for there service we asked them would the normal home packages work for a small office, there reply was no, reason being this tipe of account is shaped to hell and wont get u any where business wise.

so somewhere along the line mweb is not quite honest with there customers.

On that note im not dowloading with this account but why the hell should they shape
gaming protocals aswell, thats like 1% of the traffic used on the network.

Check out these ****ers wonders whats the catch sites.google.com/site/linkswop/. How much can you download from rapidshare a day?

How is everyones ping for gaming?

As it is not bandwidth intensive I am wondering how heavily shaped it is.

well everything between 300 and 500 sometimes 1000 but not stable, and local latencies suck. at 300ms, which is not acceptable.

With every new user signing up, the latency drops. And lots have signed with MWEB. We must be glad our latency is not 20000ms. Keep up the good work MWEB, and users might write something positive in the future.

Now you're talking k*k. There is no logic in your argument. Be grateful your roof hasn't fallen on your head.

The more users sign up, the worse things get. Latency has increased and speeds have dropped. Gaming is very difficult even on weekends or late in the evening.

what is the point you are making ?

are you saying that in fact the home package could have worked for your small office?

Yeah I think that is the point he was making, and tbh I don't see why this package wouldn't work for a small business

Typical usage in a small business includes mainly HTTP and email so I wonder what Mweb's reasoning behind saying 'no' was...

I hope it wasn't to exploit them for more money...but anything is possible in this country
