The Truth! Hard for some,Pleasing for Most!

Contrary to belief

The basic Truth of the matter is that as soon as the 80gb minority abusers got sent off . The network improved almost immiediatly.

Well done WBS! Perhaps a bit more tact would have been good but it did the trick and I believe the rest of the problems are managable.

I can see a point of view that seems hard for some to understand, but there are still numerous people who are right at this moment having disconection issues with MSN IRC and erratic speeds, the so called abusers didnt cause the problem so removing them isnt going to make it go away either.

Read all the posts, its not about who downloaded what and how much, its about the treating of intelligent, experienced and SOME very qualified IT professionals who are also customers as common criminals.

It is about the disrespect that a Company who "Hosts The Lotto" that rolls out towers, that is Spending Millions and Projects to spend Billions more has for other people.
Do you remember the Pick and Pay scare some years ago with the so called poisened goods?

Well look at their shares now, they go from strength to strength.

How did Their CEO handle that one?

They put their customers first at great expense, looking forward and at the bigger picture!!!!

So please lets keep to the agenda here, it is about TRUST!!!

The ridiculousness of it all is insane.

If the tables were turned, and those few big emails you received put you over the acceptable limit and your service was disconnected, what how would you feel?

The fact, and bottom line of the matter, is that due to iBursts' mismanagement of their systems and bandwidth, this situation ocurred.

Some people got suspended because multiple accounts of the same name were in use, meaning a few people contributed towards their cap without them knowing about it.

Be very careful of shaving everyone with the same blade, since it's absolutely clear you have no inkling what you're talking about and what the real situation is/was.

Another day, another dollar.

I tend to agree with NickV - the only members complaining/whining are the ones who got disconnected (''the bandwidth hogs'' - I can't stop laughing as I'm typing this, it's really funny).

I'm really happy with iBurst, because I just use it to surf my favourite car web sites (www.audi.co.za), download updates for my laptop and have email on the go. I don't think the system is mature enough for business use, but I'm sure it will improve over time.

Not happy with the way WBS handled the 'disconnection' situation - they could've contacted the users first and warned them, before they disconnected them. It sucks big time.

WBS should send their management staff on a extensive 'customer service satisfaction' course.

When the power users were sent off the speeds might have improved for some but not all. I have been logging my speed day and night to get a comparsion and at the best of times a dial up modem incorrectly configured could beat Iburst. They have not sorted out the problems .

So WBS got out of their inability to run a network by blaming the downloaders and you bought it nickv!? Shows how much you actually know! I promise you one thing , you will be eating those words very soon when WBS has other hickups and cannot blame bandwidth hogs for it! Wait for it...........

And do you like ice cream?

i also agree with nickv, watch out for the abuser swarm;) ye love ya to

Looks like 2day, all the lurkers came out of their closets in all shapes and genders! Good to have u guys on the forum!

Ok, I guess this is going nowhere ...

Some people here think of internet as a business tool only, no other value whatsoever. Well, let me tell you, if you want to live in the last century, go ahead, restrict yourself to email and web browsing, and put a big counter on you screen to warn you when you approach the cap, so you can make a plan to pay more or to stop using it.

Unfortunately (for WBS) I am not retarded and I live in this century, so I use internet for everything that I can possibly use it for. If I can do something over internet, I will do it, because it is convenient, because it is easy, because it is cheaper or because of whatever other reason. So I use internet for many more things than just checking my email and the weather.

So, my point is, I am not going to keep quiet and let some company managed by some brain-damaged mutants that want to become multi-millionaires for few months, restrict me in any way.

For the people that think WBS have the right to cut access to people that have exceeded their monthly limit without doing anything illegal (like hacking the WBS bandwidth management system for example), please attend some internet course or something like that in order to learn that internet is not just email and web browsing, so some day when you grow up intellectually you can utilise the wonderful power of the global network for various other useful applications, obviously if your ISP lets you do that.

Do you not thinks its wrong that WBS is going on a huge marketing spree when their infrastructure clearly can't handel more people. Imagine 100 high bandwidth ISDN (uncapped) users would bring MWEB to a standstill?

Their infrastructure is not ready for JHB and yet they are making our lives worse my marketing like crazy. The reason they capped it in the first place is to stop high bandwidth users.

If they cant budget bandwidth properly, they should stop.

nickv, clearly you don't see the bigger picture.
This is in no way helping the development of internet in South Africa.

yup. but they are greedy.

I am just very curious, why people who have no problem with the 3GB cap and claim that they hardly ever reach the cap, why they are so unhappy about the speed?

If you are using internet for 8 hours a day x 22 days a month (normal work month) it works out that you need 4.7 KB/s in order to consume your 3GB. So I peronally have never experienced slower speed than about 5-6 KB/s so I don't see speed problem on first place!

Amber + NickV + any other "rational people"
Please, please give the following some though:

Get rid of the hundred abusers! New bandwidth available = 500gb free
Okay lets add a 250 new "good" users at 2gb of 3gb usage! = 500gb used
We are facing the same problem, only now there's no "abusers"!

Question: Why the hell are they spending money on marketing (getting those 250 users) when they can't handel 250 users!

"Abusers" are showing me that WBS is like sentec. Can't handel more people!

Oh, but 250 new users will give em more money?
Towers are very expensive and they have proven (Olivedale) that they stuff up positioning of towers! Oh towers are used to expand the coverage area! How likely do you think those 250 users are from a newly covered area?

Amber + Nickv + other alike. start worrying, cause WBS's "quick fix" is not going to last!
