The Truth! Hard for some,Pleasing for Most!

yo cyclone.I see that in the absense of any intelligent argument you have to resort to personal attacks! This clearly shows me that you lack the intelligence to keep up with the conversations.

DONT GET PERSONAL!!!!!!!!

As to your comparison of overseas Download caps,it has no relevance! We are a 3rd world country aspiring to 1st world standards! SA has been playing catchup here for the last 50years and only in the the last 15 have the major advanses started.Telkom , which is a throwback to the old apartheid era, is hanging on for dear life.

I would like to also know what happened to the guys to did get to Download 80gb when the got there bill? By my caculations they should been sitting with an account for R13 859.23! Have they all paid or are they all arguing that the service was uncapped or throttled or whatever other lame exuse they could come up with!

Judging by the post's of the majority of the morons on this Forum, the harsh realities of business are not talents that most of yo can boast of and you have never had the utther pleasure of sitting in front of your bank manager trying to explain to him that things did'nt quite go according to plan and thats why the overdraft climbed 10fold over the limit. But no to worry because our cumtomers promised to pay for all the exess bandwidth they used! Promise!

WBS did right! So they pissed off 100 geeks to keep a couple of thousand normal people happy!

Thats a truth right there!

Some people won, some people lost. Some people are happy, some people are unhappy.

In the end, there is only one party at fault. WBS.

I included this quote from TheRoDent because that is the truth of the matter. I am happy and others are unhappy. I am not happy about their predicament but I am happy about my speeds and that I am getting what I am paying for up to this point. I have never said WBS is perfect and I don’t think any ISP in South Africa is perfect.

But I do not have to agree just as you do not need to agree with my opinion.

Some people really like SA being 3rd world country. Well, it will be while there are so many retarded people being happy with that, and trying to keep it that way! Why you not please move to Somalia so you can have the best experience of the 3rd world, and so we can do some progress here and make SA first world country.

When I have a problem, I am trying to solve it, rather than trying to adjust my way of doing things so I can live with the problem.

WBS screw hundreds of people, they did NOT do anything right!!! They are incompetent to manage their network, hence the people did not get capped to 64 kbps as advertised. So the people that downloaded 80GB are not to blame at all, they should not pay even a cent for what they have downloaded as it does not say in the contract that they should pay in case of WBS failing to manage properly their network.

probably here martin :-)

and you will see many more like this, until there are **** companies like WBS and Telkom, and people that agree with their unacceptable behaviour, due to lack of brain obviously.

Normal People?? Lets see.

People who have
normal jobs or business's they go to everyday where they use the internet to check/send email relating to there work or use websites or services to produce income or organize there business or work better and when they get home they use the net to check up on there fav website, chat with there buddies, download something new they heard bout, have intelligent conversations on forums like this, etc, etc.

Thats my normal .

Good Boyscout,good boy.

Yes it seems I have a good excuse based on your comments, so whats your excuse for behaving like a bitchy girl?

no nickv............."normal people" who download lank pr0n and have accounts on x86.co.za and efarm.za.net ;)

that's exactly what most of us do, and at the end of the month the counter is on 8-12GB or so. That is why the limits elsewhere are starting from about 20GB upwards, because 10-20GB is reasonable number for 99% of us, 3GB is reasonable for 60-70% of us.

And if somebody is doing business and need 99.9% up-time and reliability and high speed, they should not use product like iBurst on first place, as this product is for home use. Get yourself a leased line or whatever and stop complaining that every now and then iBurst speed drops to 500 kbps instead of the advertised 1 Mbps!

I am sitting in germany at the moment. got a 2mbit adsl connection i am paying 9 Euros for monthly (roughly R80 p.m.). I have a 3gb cap, after which i get charged 1 euro per GB. thats about 8 Rand. The flat rate with static IP goes for 27 euro a month. about R200.

Amber, again, what the hell are you doing in this forum if all you are busy saying, is life's great on your side so you can't be bothered with other people. Why then bother writing anything at all. Why express yourself, if all you are saying is i don't give a **** about you people in this forum.

Why waste time? You are helping no one, although its hilarious how you get people to piss eachother off.

But still completely useless in the greater sheme of things!

Nickv = what are you? spacerocketcontrolroommanager? or CA?
your bloody calculations are irrelevant cause they dont base costs on per GB's!!! Get that in your skull. Telkom lines are fixed costs. If they do use GB for costing. They are buggered.

Get also into your skull that the extra gb's dont get charged unless you want to use additional bandwidth at OVER 64k. That's at least what WBS was suggesting initially!

How old are you anyway? First year B.Com?

The so called "download hogs" are not a problem and should not be. I think these people are sort of pioneers who show the rest what can be done with new technology. I am sure there are some who will download porn but I think these area minute minority. If not for such bandwidth hungry user we would not have broadband.

So what happens when WBS gets thousands more sign up for their service? They will probably restrict every user to 5 emails a day each max 512k in size ( t..e..l..k..o..m..). I am sure that atleast some will be happy because they don't want to use broadband for browsing or streaming.

Why do you need to browse the websites and use email? why not read newspapers and send letters using the PostOffice ? I know a few people who are happy doing just that. They don't understand what all the fuss is about the internet and instant messaging .

So, instead of supporting WBS, support your fellow subscribers and demand a higher service level from WBS. If it only a minority that is causing the problem, then WBS should have taken these extremes into account. What, they thought that they will get users swithching from 56K to Broadband to send emails faster and look at lotto results?. Every service has to take into account the extremes. And if it is more than the minority then there is a problem with the service anyways because it just does not meet the expectations.

I agree 100% with bb_matt & swordfish1 and others who have been critisising WBS for their shocking customer (what is that ) service.

I dont agree with WBS or Telkom!!

You are either to young or have forgotten what this country used to be like!
We have prgressed 1000%

One thing I don't understand, why some people think that there is technical problem with everybody being happy in regards with internet bandwith??? I personally have experienced 1 Mbit speed with iBurst for a while so the iBurst medium is working 100% so is the ADSL. It is all about that if WBS or Telkom purchase more bandwidth and they keep their prices the same (in order to be accessible to large amount of customers), then they will make less profit, lets say instead of R4.592 billion (the actual Telkom profit after tax for year 2004), they will make R4 billion.

Just FYI, ADSL runs on two plain phone lines, so how much cost Telkom to give you an ADSL line??? How much cost to have 2 telephone lines? Less than R200. Then why ADSL line cost R680? Well there is once off cost for a little device on their side (modem), that cost few hundred rands, but this cannot justify R500 extra payment every month for the same infrastructure as needed for 2 phone lines! It is all about making huge profit!!! It is called monopolly, and wherever there is a monopolly, customers are screwed really hard, that's the fact, if you don't realise it, you are too damn stupid!

So supporters of WBS and Telkom, are in fact saying, screw everyone who wants to use internet freely, and lets make the most profitable company in SA even more profitable so the fat ass managers can get 20 million rands bonus this year instead of the usual 10 million!?

What a bullsh1t!!!!!!!!

I fail to understand, how some people let themselves be so easily manipulated by the companies (Telkom and now WBS). These companies are saying to the users that your service is bad because "you know what there are these "bandwidth robbers" who steal bandwidth from you and we are going to stop them. Ok lovey ! now go to sleep and try us again next month." ( Pulling my hair out! ooooouch it hurts ! )

Meanwhile, it is their incompetence that failed to recognise the usage requirements of "all" the users and not just some "good" users who go online to email their one friend and their one relative once a day. And now that they have been caught with their pants down they are just pointing fingers at the first reason that the "gullible" will accept.

The message is Don't be gullible and don't accept Bullsh*t. Demand service

Nice posts mak2000 and swordfish. Hopefully people can start to see that anything bull about "bandwidth hogs" is moronic..... see above posts. :)
