The understated Seacom cable facts

I stopped being an "admirer" or even someone who took anything Goldstuck or World Wide Worx said seriously a long time ago...

They've been linked to Telkom too many times and that just left a sour taste in my mouth... plus he pronounces on things... just to make himself seem important in my opinion...

"Arthur Goldstuck has been appointed as one of three new directors of the Bandwidth Barn (Powered by Telkom). He is joined by Prof. Johannes Cronje, dean of Information Technology and Design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Brendan Hughes, director of Infology."

FAIL

Hahaha was just about to say, a telkom sponsored entity trying to spoil the hype generated by the possibility of cheaper internet. rather fail lol

Arthur has a new coffee table book coming out soon: "How to destroy your credibility in one easy lesson." with foreword by Reuben September.

yet another excuse not to provide cheaper "broadband"

Telkom monopoly be conquered?

Not while the local loop still is under Telkom's control :(

But it's good looking forward to having the winds of change blowing :D

Farting into the wind seems more likely lol... but you're absolutely right. LL. Therein lies the monopoly.

They could build 20 more cables and these a-holes would still tell us that (what seems to be their favourite punch line):

The broadband internet landscape in south africa is unlikely to change soon

AKA

We will keep milking you idiots dry as long as we possibly can

hehe... maybe Telkom will be the ones who surprise us with a price drop or speed/bundle increase... say... around October? Just guessing. ;) thinking out loud ya know! :p

I think things are balanced on a knive edge. Nobody quite knows what will happen and the current stakeholders don't want things to change. Until the first hero decides to change things nothing will happen, from there it might turn into some form of a landslide...

When competition comes to SA.........

The new entrants all talk about the bad deal SA customers are getting, and how they are going to shake things up (Virgin Mobile, Neotel, Barclays.....). However, once they find out how comfortable the status quo is, we never hear from them again. They must read up on doing business in SA.

Part 1. Customers assume the position at birth. If they don't, the government happily provides teaching aids. (various pay as you get fu<ked schemes)
Part 2. Join the 'Old Boys Network'. Lifetime membership and it's free!
Part 3. You can fu<k your customers whilst playing golf.
Part 4. "Competition" is only a word.
Part 4. South Africa customers, "The gift that keeps on giving"
