The understated Seacom cable facts

In a weeks’ time the entire communications community will change. The entering of the long anticipated Seacom on the 27th of July will start a bandwidth revolution. The Telkom monopoly will be conquered and we will experience faster and cheaper internet connectivity.

Telkom monopoly be conquered?

Not while the local loop still is under Telkom's control :(

But it's good looking forward to having the winds of change blowing :D

"Arthur Goldstuck has been appointed as one of three new directors of the Bandwidth Barn (Powered by Telkom). He is joined by Prof. Johannes Cronje, dean of Information Technology and Design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Brendan Hughes, director of Infology."

FAIL

So, I have been waiting for this for years and years, and now, its going to do jack sh** for me?

siiggggghhhhh.

Haha - this is like Chevron Texaco telling us global warming is a myth!

What a load of bull! yet more excuses to have massive profit margins...

I say this with utmost respect to Arthur and the rest of the chaps heading this briliant program (Bandwidth Barn). But the 'Powerd by Telkom' just kills off any noble intent that Barn may have.

Wait a second oh yes, Telkom is a reason behind us needing a concept of bandwidth barn on the first place to stimulate growth of the start up IT business..... !!!!!!

Speak of a hypocrite......(Not Arthur, Telkom)

I'm still hopeful, and won't right anything off just yet.

No one really knows what will happen.

hehe... maybe Telkom will be the ones who surprise us with a price drop or speed/bundle increase... say... around October? Just guessing. ;) thinking out loud ya know! :p

I've never really understood Telkom management (unless I've missed something) ...

If you know you're fscking people country wide with your monopoly, and you know competition will be entering very soon ... wouldn't you change the way you've been operating? :/

You would think so, but perhaps they know more than us.

They are in a position to effectively kill the opposition before they get a foothold and yet the do not act.

Either they are monumentally incompetent or they realize that the competition poses no real threat to them.

Which ISP's do you reckon will eventually reduce broadband costs ?
My bet is on iBurst and possibly ISP's belonging to the Seacom consortuim
