WRT that episode, the critics would seem to strongly disagree with you. However, going by viewership ratings, this was among the lowest in the history of the series thus far. Only two other episodes (both in Season 1, all the way back in 2010) had lower viewership totals.

In the beginning there were a lot more people panicking leading to disaster.

Lots of interesting developments.

This episode is important for the narrative change.

See. This week I'm changing my tune. This week's episode was more reminiscent of classic TWD. The slower burn, building tension, is what the show is about.

I can now see a possible way how Rick and Maggie can dissappear from the show without actually dying. Let's assume they're both A's, and they need to go far away someplace, with the possibility of them returning in the future.
