Wanted to get into this series. Just tried The Witcher 1 for a few hours. Only getting constant crashes at loading screens though. Spent a while trying out a few fixes but they made no difference. Such a disappointment as it seems to be a game I'd like. Skipping to the Witcher 2 just feels wrong as I'm a completionist.

It's worth the anguish...

Which version are you playing?

Maybe try WITCHER: THE ENHANCED EDITION from GOG they usually patch their stuff so it works on modern systems.

Ye I tried that one with the latest 1.5 patch. Plus read a few forums on fixes. None helped.

Screw that. The Witcher 3 is by far the best game in the series, and 2 is still much better than 1. Start with either 2 or 3.

Thats what I said! Come month end hopefully I'll just take the plunge and dive straight into 3!

I've had an issue since 1.05 - i don't seem to get any gold or exp from any quests.
Stuck on level 22.

for instance on a Witcher contract when negotiating the price, all values show 0 and i then i earn 0 gold for doing the contract.

Super wierd, I have tried verifying all files on GOG but that didn't help at all.

I left it and continued on to the main quest so will see what happens as i have just started Act 2.

Finished my replay of Witcher 1 this weekend, about an hour into Witcher 2....

Can't wait to get started on Witcher 3... as soon as I get a new graphics card....

Just for schites & giggles I started up TW2 last night with all settings maxed & then turned on ubersampling, it still cripples a gpu :D

I'm going through this game way too slowly... :D
Happens, especially when you try to take on 3 RPGs at once.

I went and installed The Witcher 1 again to try and make it work. My crossfire setup (HD7870 x 2) was making Skyrim crash so I figured that might be the issue. Disabled crossfire and it works flawlessly! I'm already into chapter 2 and haven't had a single crash.

Will move onto The Witcher 2 and then 3 when done. A couple good months of gaming ahead.

Done about 5 hours on TW3.

Struggling a bit with the alchemy, everything has missing ingredients. Do i need to collect every single shrub ?

Got taken out badly at some village by a group of guys with arrows. The were a lot tougher than standard monsters.

But its lekker.
