So I did a search and didn't find a thread for this. If there is one, apologies.

So, Netflix is creating a "The Witcher"series.

Henry Cavill has been cast in the role of Geralt of Rivia, other castings still underway. I like Cavill, I think he has the depth for a role like this. Upon further research though - the dude is a MAJOR Witcher fan. He's played the games multiple times, read the books, etc.

Here's a concept piece.

Very keen to see this, didn't know he was a fan. I wonder what he will look like with long white hair?

Never played the games but I'm a big fan of the books.

The series is based off of the books not the games as far as I know so there won't be a beard, people are just adding the beard because that's the image everyone has in mind, he only had a beard in the last game.

Nope, it's going to be a combination of the books and the games from what I've read.

I'd like a mix between books and games. The books can be draggy and the game did well cleaning some plot points up. Cavill, who I like I am unsure about. He's got a classic handsome face not a rugged one, which is what is needed imo. Although I have no idea who I'd cast instead.

Only if you want him to have a beard

Did you see MI: Fallout? He was great in that, and not boyish.

He can get rugged if he needs to.

He was fantastic in that but for me the witcher has a scared world weary face. That's my concern, he's certainly buff enough for the role. Anyway I'm just hoping that it's good!

In a way, he is too buff and too big to be the Witcher.

I always pictured the Witcher as a tall, thin albino with long hair.

It could've been on something like The CW *shudders*

Exactly. The only thing that gives me hope is that it’s Netflix (who generally make good quality shows), it’s Henry, and the author of the books is actively involved in the shows development.

That was from Man of Steel though, he’s not that big anymore. I’m interested to see what they do.

I find Netflix series very hit and miss. One decent show for every they pump out. But this has solid lore behind it so it's got that going for it.

So what happened with Mads Mikkelsen being Gerald of Rivia? Or was that just an unfounded rumor?

What does that have to do with anything? Themes from the game can still be used in the series.

The CD Projekt games do not follow the books. They are their own stories. As confirmed by Andrej Sapowski.
They cannot use themes from the games without CD Projekt input, because they own the rights to those stories.

Netflix has also confirmed the series will be based of Sapowski's work exclusively
In fact, Sapowski was involved at the early stages when the series was announced.

I’ll read more before I comment further. What you’ve just said is directly contrary to what I’ve read, so let’s move on from hearsay and establish some facts.
