The XBOX 360 FAQ

How do you set a default Profile on an Xbox 360?

Go to your gamer profile, disable the auto sign in on the profile logged in you don't want. Log off, log in with the profile you want as default and enable auto sign in on this one.

The first time my Live! profile was no longer set as default was extremely frustrating. Its not obvious what you have to do either.

2 things needed in the FAQ (unless I really am blind) .....

1) A step by step on what is needed and what to do when wanting to use your LCD with the Xbox.
2) A hardware step by step for setting up Live (modem setup, what internet, etc).

Ok let's assume I have no idea what I'm doing.

Xbox Live!

How do I go about it exactly? I setup a "live" email account so I could access it turns out the region isn't supported by Xbox live. I was reading it's basically changing the details of that email account to something like the UK. Buy points from some other international site and then get a gold account.

I stopped when it gave me the crap about locale not supported. Is there no other way of doing this?

You'll need an SA power adapter or a power converter to sort out the mains issue.

Only region-free games (of which most of the big titles are ... e.g. Gears Of War 2) will work on the NTSC-U which the US 360 is :p

Why do you want to go through all that trouble though?

Red Ring of Death. Please tell me where I can send it go get fixed?? I'm in Durban. Somewhere reputable. I got it at Game just over a year ago

contact Microsoft, get a ref number and if you still have proof of purchase, just take it back to Game for a swap out ;) If you don't have the proof of purchase, you'll have to contact MI Digital and that costs about R700 (or thereabouts).

I am in the US and plan on buying a XBOX, but i will come back home some time... Then if i buy a game here, i want to be able to play it on the US XBOX, even though its a SA-region game...

Well, there is only a complicated way of changing the region of the console, and it's once only if I remember correctly.

You'll only be able to play region-free games bought in SA on your soon to be bought 360. If they load on your US Xbox, (SA 360 game), you'll know it's region free.

Rename your local account to something unique and ad a ZA at the back of it.
Once the account is on live is will cost you 800 MS to change it... so be sure.
If the name you want is allready taken, cancel process, go back to dash and rename your local account. Rinse Repeat.

what exactly does this mean?

have a look on forum's, xbox.com and a good old Google search for region-free Xbox 360 titles.

If that game you're interested in is on the list, you can be rest assured in buying that game in SA!

Help met Xbox 360 Hard Drive

I currently own the Arcade console. (Console without the hard drive)

I wish to play games directly from a hard drive.

I want to purchase a hard drive. (only to play games from)

The 120G are currently not availible in SA. If I settle for a 20G hard drive-
How many games can I load onto this hard drive?

Am I just wasting my money? Should I wait for the 120G hard drive?

Get a 60g if you can but you should be able to install about 2 games on the 20g
...I had 13g and then installed Fallout 3 and now 7g left.

You can get the 120Gb's here, just search on jump.co.za, they're usually around R1600.

Thanks man. BUT, you will never believe this, it's working again. I tried it the next day and it's fine. It's amazing.

This is the pic I took when it happened
