Guys, if you had a nice lump sum to convert to USD , would you do it now at a rate of R15 OR would you wait till the next rating ?

Definitely now.

Like this morning.

The Rand dropped massively the last two days.

Your USD will be a bargain.

Will the rand dip a little lower, possibly, will it make a difference, no.

Look at the USD/ZAR graph for the last 20 years. That trend ain't gonna change.

*cough*

Never mind the last ten years. Try the last 5 . ALmost triple your money (pre taxes etc) is insane. Bet on first world countries. Always. Their markets may dip and dive now and then , but over the course of modern history they've always prevailed and built stronger economies. This whole BRICS becoming super powers is a sing song that has been sung for the last century and nothing has come of it. I'm sure its safe to bet that nothing will come of it for at least another half century.

R14-40 to the dollar yesterday, shot back up to R15-54 and climbing as a result of BREXIT....

Rand getting stronger against the pound though

Go check again, the pound is recovering, it's already back to R21 to the pound.

The Rand is stronger against the Pound because the pound is falling? GBP was overvalued IMO.
My fear is how far the Rand will fall to the Dollar and the Euro.

No that's the Rand weakening. The Pound is weakening against other stronger currencies and will probably do so even more in the coming weeks.

Very strange to see weakening against the USD and Euro but gaining 8% against the pound. Good news for those that were going to the UK soon

Like me! :D
ZAR seems stable today after taking a hit from brexit last week. (Not weakening against USD either)
The pound is still weakening though...

Damn but the pound is taking a pounding (no pun intended)

Feeling really seriously depressed because I have money in the UK that needs to get to me in the next few weeks, heres to hoping that the pound somehow recovers.
