Anyone used the Shyft app from Standard Bank?

You can top up the wallet with foreign currency and get a card issued for it that you can use around the world.

Been able to move Rand into Forex, in particular USD and Euro (upcoming trip) and then use the card oversees or as an investment vehicle.

I have some dollar's in my PayPal account which I was planning on bringing over during the course of this week. That seems to be a not-so-wise move right now.

So surprisingly the Rand is actually strengthening (Around 13.63 atm). I think it's a mixture of factors: the possibility of Zuma being removed increasing; emerging currencies is still the go to; and that "junk" status and everything else has been priced into the currency already.

Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if next week this time it's around 15

So what happens from here? FNB raped me after delaying USD transaction by a week. Are we heading for another 2002 Xmas fall out?
Seems the banks are so slow to do these transaction, might be better buying gold????

Confused as the appalling time frames for transactions, even as a private banker, when there is a slow motion train smash we can all see happening, and the banksters delay transactions...

Rand is in free-fall. Almost certain it will break R14 tonight or tomorrow morning, then who knows where it could end up. I nearly sold USD for Rands today, but there was a delay at the bank. Guess that worked out :/
