And when they get full power? Do we get loadshedding again?
I am not that quick to think things are going to improve.

Yeah, it has been a quiet few days since the State of the Nation address when it comes to what is actually being done to sort the power crisis out, apart from telling people to cut down on their consumption.

consider industry & business, household.... have adapted power saving measures since, when mines are back to 100% power ,load shedding (if required) should not be as often as before.

Eskom 's supply is more consistent now too, maybe it s the weather or the new management structure dunno ,anyways it is good news.

If the mining export does not normalize , we consumers gonna pay a lot more for everything . another big problem we do not need nor foresee.

$ = R 7.74
£ = R 15.12
€ = R 11.24
Gold = $ 923.40
Oil = $ 93.23

Apparently a rebound is on the cards...

Its actually #3 - "curtailment" of mines and industry.

Lets say you had this as option 3, then unfortunatly i had to say no's 2 AND 3...If you take it like this...If im not mistaken, the very same day the "new" guys took over, there was a def diminishing effect on the load. PS: could be out with a day or 2 :)

Put two economists in a room, come back an hour later, and they will give you 3 opinions.

Consolidation period apparently

no recession.-2008 growth forecast is around 3.9%
power crisis is not a shortage ,a tight supply rather -SA winter peak demand is 36000MW, Eskom is designed for 42000MW

I believe that email originates from the CEO of iBurst. Anyone care to correct me?

Of wich they can only generate 32000MW , if they can get hold of enough coal before winter,and if they can restart Koeberg in time (before winter) and if they can complete the most urgent maintenance on most of their generators in time.

Lots of if's there.........
All the farmers around here say we are going to have a long ,cold winter.
