How does that help the ANC or government? The tax of fuel is based per litre, not per rand. Unless you think that the plan is to drive up input costs, to drive up consumer costs, to increase vat revenue, I don't see your reasoning. This wouldn't really work, as people would reduce spending not increase it to match higher prices.

Gives them an excuse to pump up the fuel price. 15% of R14 > 15% of R12
 
American Economy has improved while the Euro outlook is bleak.
Traders say they expect the Rand to hit R12.40 to the dollar.
 
I would like it to be artificially weakened to about R15/$1, and maintained there.

But more importantly, I would prefer the the Euro to be artificially weakened R15/€1 or R16/€1 (In which case, the dollar would be aligned based on $/€)
