Rand has strengthened a lot but I haven't moved funds back as I suspect it will drop a a bit once junk status is hit in June/July
Why are you forecasting junk status in June/July? We are two notches above junk with Moodys and one above with the other two rating agencies. Have S&P and Fitch indicated a review in June/July?

Still not good. We were at R11.77 at one stage during the last year - 17th of May, 2015, to be exact.

Agreed. Was just replying to the Nenegate damage caused. The commodities rally is really propping us up IMO as we have a downgrade hanging over our heads. Should the rating agencies come up with statements that say they will wait and see if the rally translates into growth in our mining sector at least and they keep it at stable and not downgrade, the rand should appreciate more I think

Hopefully at least until Zuma is fired in August. ;)

I for one am not under estimating that man again. He has proven his political moves are sharp and calculated, he will be around untill 2017 IMO. And even if an early elective conference is called, his power block will get somebody to replace him.

I have just got back home from my local Inter-Africa Forex Bureau De Change this a.m.
Bought GBP 1,500 which cost me ZAR 32,102

I am trying to get the hope up. Clearly not working.

14.33 ,would be nice to have sub 14 next week :P

Could happen today - or it could shoot back up to >R15.

ZAR has been mighty unstable for a while now - and will continue to do be so for a long while to come.
