Petrol prices won't drop. Rand is too weak.

i have to say skinner, there is no need to search for every thread with a mention of the rand and then mention you have euro to bring back. you've left enough trace for someone registering in 2020 to know that you had many euro to convert into rand in 2008.

please. for the sake of all our sanities. let it be. maybe the mods can even give you a custom title like euro king. anything man.

100% agreed with milomak - it is rather fscking tedious. I avoid your posts like the plague because of this constant EURO issue. In general, your posts have gotten a lot better, but if you have to continue with the EUR thing, then please take it to a EURO specific forum or to one where the forumites actually give a **** about how much you have and when you will be converting them.

the dollar is crunching almost everything in it's path. exceptions being the yen and the swissy.

$ = R 9.71
£ = R 15.04
€ = R 14.2
Oil = $ 43.55
Gold = $ 875.7

Euro closing in on the Pound....:eek:

Will we actually see the day that England forsake the Pound?

Loving the low price of oil at least....Petrol meant to go down another rand at least early Jan :)

$ now at R9.30!

That's almost a R1 gain this month! Oil is down, interest rates coming down. Maybe 2009 will hold some gems :/

Perhaps these will only alleviate some of the major pains we would feel thanks to the global recession plaguing international economies. The biggest casualty in a recession is employment.

So having to spend less on petrol or your bond will be positive as long as you can hang on to your job.

Although I think it kinda sucks for those who are importing products into SA, I think over the long term the Rand will have to be devalued for SA goods and services to be competitive, especially in this economic climate. How much it devalues is anyones guess.

how much is the petrol price coming down next week?

Come back see this:

Rand recovers to an eventual R7/$ by 2010.
By 2012 I see a R12/$.

Sell SA goods :/

The weak rand is better for the country as a whole then a strong rand, big petrol drop again i hope :).

R2 haha if only :)

That R7/$ is completely plausible in 2010 considering we'll have lots of capital inflows with the World Cup. Something tells me though that we might not get as many European tourists coming if the world economy does not pick up by the middle of this year.

Can't really say what will happen in 2012 and whether R12/$ should be fair value...there's just too many variables.

Rand/Dollar$$ Will it continue?

So the Rand has gained some nice ground the last few days or maybe the Dollar slipped a bit.
Do you think it will continue on this trend or will it go back past the R10/$ level soon?
Reason I am asking. I am importing something from the US and if the Rand strengthens another 25-50cents it will save me a considerable amount of money. But if it weakens again it will also cost me bit more.

So I guess it's one of those situations where I am either gonna kick myself or pat myself on the back for making that 50/50 call.
